Strong Keep - While he doesn't meet WP:GNG in today's electronic 24 hour news society, he was an incredibly accomplished actor. Clearly passes WP:NACTOR: not only did he have significant roles in multiple notable films spanning 4 decades (Dog Day Afternoon (1975), The Little Foxes, The Joe Louis Story, perhaps more, I stopped after 4 - the other role was minor), but he was a notable Broadway actor, at a time when Black actors in America were scarce. He appeared in over 20 Broadway plays from the 1930s through the 1960s, including the original casts of such notable productions as The Little Foxes (which he reprised his role of Cal in the film); one of the major roles in 1946's The Iceman Cometh; Janie (1942-4), which was made into a film by Michael Curtiz; one of the leads in the American production of Jean-Paul Sartre's The Respectful Prostitute (1948); a significant (if somewhat smaller) role in The Ponder Heart (1956); a major role in Orpheus Descending, by Tennessee Williams (although that play was considered a flop - and I'm curious why he wasn't cast in the film version); a significant role in The Miracle Worker (1959-61); a prominent role in the ensemble of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, which while not a commercial success, the Bertolt Brecht play is a masterpiece; More Stately Mansions (1967-68); and his final performance as Ramsey Eyes in The Last Meeting of the Knights of the White Magnolia in 1976. Keep – per onel5969. While WP:NACTOR is a guideline, and subjects that "meet these criteria is not conclusive proof that a subject should not be included; conversely, meeting one or more does not guarantee that a subject should be included" (regarding various criteria on the page), the subject is a historically relevant actor who does meet WP:NACTOR.
