Delete - lack of independent reliable sources that offer significant coverage of this person. Fails WP:GNG and probably WP:MEMORIAL. Sourcing is to blogs, attendance lists at various poetry events and a couple of local obituaries similar to those anyone might receive in his home community. PROD removed by primary author, who asserts notability based on Wiler's editorship of Long Shot magazine, which appears to be a regional poetry journal (and defunct), and his authorship of two books, neither of which appear to establish notability under WP:AUTHOR. Do Not Delete - deletion seems unwise since the Jack Wiler authored book was listed in http://poetry.about.com/od/poetrybooks/tp/bestbooks2006.htm other authors cited there have somehow survived deletion at en.wikipedia.org with far fewer sources cited, perhaps the Wiler article has too many citations causing some to be confused? - for example see

and

- About.com doesn't appear to meet the criteria for reliable sources and even if it did, merely being on a list housed there doesn't fulfill the requirements of WP:AUTHOR. Are You The Cow Of Pain? (talk) 04:00, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- About.com may not or may meet the criteria for reliable sources depending on the author of the article - the one cited was by Bob Holman, [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by Opusiv (talk • contribs) 15:21, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Regardless, a one paragraph review of a book doesn't constitute significant coverage of the author. Are You The Cow Of Pain? (talk) 17:09, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Delete He is a published poet, but that's not enough to qualify as notable for Wikipedia purposes. (BTW I note that he never gave up his day job). No significant coverage, no significant awards or prizes, no reviews by Reliable Sources, nothing about him at Google Books. Sorry. --MelanieN (talk) 00:10, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- fwiw, neither did Wallace Stevens give up his day job. DGG ( talk ) 03:43, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- fwiw, Wallace Stevens was described by numerous critics and fellow poets as a great poet and a great influence on other poets. When the same is true about Jack Wiler, I will !vote "keep". --MelanieN (talk) 04:35, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
