Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Islam in Chhattisgarh

The result was delete. The article has two sentences and three lines. Consensus is to not keep, no consensus about redirect. I.e., anybody can now create (and anybody else can then RfD) a redirect. This does not prevent a competent recreation along the lines of what Derek Andrews suggests.  Sandstein  11:49, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fails WP:GNG. The information is verifiable, but the subject does not appear to be notable. - MrX 14:35, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Question to nominator: Are you assuming that the stub's content is all there is to be said about the subject? The subject is a minority religion in a state of 28 million people. A quick Google News search brings up concerns of inter-religious violence ([1] [2]), and a cursory search of Google Books offers snippet views suggesting some historic importance. • Gene93k (talk) 02:41, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect to Chhattisgarh#Religion. It is a plausible search term, so i would not outright delete it. However, considering the amount of WP:SYNTHESIS one would have to commit to make something out of the sources mentioned above, I am not convinced this can go anywhere beyond a mishmash of news snippets. --HyperGaruda (talk) 07:16, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete The article is just one line pulled from census statistics. Nothing much to be lost here.--DreamLinker (talk) 18:28, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete -- not an encyclopedically relevant topic. K.e.coffman (talk) 03:38, 20 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect Per HyperGaruda. The subject is not enough to be its own separate article, regardless of whether it is a stub or not. L3X1 (distænt write) )evidence( 14:26, 20 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep I can see this possibly developing into something at least as good as Islam in Punjab, India, maybe even Islam in Assam or Islam in Kerala. I note that there is a nav box for 'India Islam in India by state and union territory' so maybe there is a move to create all these articles and improve coverage. One important thing to note is that the state of Chhattisgarh has only existed since 2000 when it was partitioned from Madhya Pradesh. This will make references hard to find and may need to be done at the district level. While creation of this stub by a new editor was premature, I think deleting it now would be too.Derek Andrews (talk) 00:06, 22 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
