Iraq war memorial[edit]

Contested prod. This is a memorial about 5 soldiers of a brigade in the Iraq war. There is no assertion of the notability of either the brigade or the soldiers. The editor who removed the prod thought that since the soldiers died in combat, they are notable. I don't think this is automatic. -- lucasbfr ^talk 23:34, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delete - while the sacrifices of American soldiers deserve to be immortalized, an encyclopedia is not necessarily the place. Not all war memorials are notable, prima facie. --Haemo 00:54, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:N. With all due respect, there are already and will be more such memorials in numerous localities across these United States. In all probability the only one that will be notable is the one that will be erected, perhaps decades from now, in Washington, D.C. --Dhartung | Talk 06:24, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Delete, do you know how many soldiers die in combat per year? It's simply not part of our mission to cover them all. We have a policy for notability, let's stick to it.—greenrd 01:26, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
