The term "ham steak" is not in and of itself notable. This might merit a section in the main article about ham, but not a stand-alone article. This article is a stub, created a year ago with the promise by the original author, "DON'T DELETE! WE WILL IMPROVE SOON!" but he or she never did. I think this is thinly-veiled linkspam for the one "source" cited. and for making me feel hungry when I clicked on that link. Peridon (talk) 12:47, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply] - Delete - Ham steak is mentioned in an interesting Dec 2010 discussion at Wikipedia:Reference desk - Ham and eggs in old American movies, which also mentions gammon steaks. Ham steak has been around since at least 1842.[1] With laborious research (e.g., chronogically going through "ham steak" references in Google books since 1842), someone probably could find enough interesting things to say about ham steak for a stand alone article. However, no matter how you slice it, it would be a difficult task. Until then, we need to send this undercooked meat back to the chef. (And yes, this AfD is making me hungry for some ham steak.) -- Uzma Gamal (talk) 13:48, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- There's a list of funniest comments on AfD's somewhere around WP, as I recall, and I hope this entry makes it. :-) - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:08, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete - Notable enough for a menu, but not notable enough for a wikipedia article. Couldn't find it in the OED --Quartermaster (talk) 14:05, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete and agree with nom that the article is apparently just an excuse to park an external link. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 16:10, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Comment I note that Gammon, currently a disambiguation page, may one day deserve an article, into which mention of ham steak may be added, as it represents unique methods of cutting and curing ham. All of my research into it so far, and probably forever, has been added to Ham#United Kingdom. Anarchangel (talk) 02:31, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
