German Broadcasting Company (GBC)[edit]

German Broadcasting Company (GBC) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View log · Stats)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

fails WP:GNG because only information about the tv station is available from its website. Therefore its uncertain if it meets WP:BROADCAST.

An IP has requested this deletion because it said the station was a hoax [1] Avono (talk) 15:28, 26 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. I found no sources on Google. The website was made via this, which appears to let people set up web pages for free. (And by the way, why would a German station have an English name?) Howicus (Did I mess up?) 22:09, 26 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so a clearer consensus may be reached.

  • Delete I can't seem to find any other info on this station. GBC TV gives me search results on Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation. Maybe if there was a German name we could search with that but, with the previous Afd, it's looking pretty hoax-like. Fuebaey (talk) 20:38, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Comment - Not finding coverage in reliable sources for this company. However, a German Broadcasting Company did exist during the early- to mid-20th century in Germany. Here are some source examples verifying this: [2], [3], [4], [5]. NorthAmerica1000 03:24, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Northamerica1000: thanks for being bold! this looks very interesting will be starting to make a stub in my user space. Avono (talk) 09:52, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Northamerica1000: Oops, the original article is here Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft maybe instead Redirect to there instead? Avono (talk) 10:16, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete and then redirect to Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft. Redirect target verified per [6]. (Modified my initial !vote above.) NorthAmerica1000 10:29, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy delete G4 (which seems to have already done). Already deleted once earlier this year. Redirect to Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft is definitely appropriate for the bare GBC article, but this didn't improve at all from the first draft that suggested Sky Deutschland was going to end their DSS service for one oddly English-titled over-the-air channel, and this one isn't any better. • Delete Please note that the article states a channel launch on April 1 (April Fools' Day). The most contents 'offered' by this 'service' are held by several different stations in Germany, some even exclusively. The statement that the GBC is part of the 'Universum Studio Germany' is also misleading, as 'Universum Studio Germany' seems to be a hoax as well, and not to be confused with 'Universum Film AG (UFA)'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Expmeno (talkcontribs) 13:52, 5 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
