FiSH (organisation)[edit]

FiSH (organisation) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View log · Stats)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

I prodded this for lack of notability. The prod was removed as sources were added, but they do not do anywhere near enough to establish notability. One is a link to the organisation’s site. Another is a passing mention in the Daily Mail, which anyway is not a reliable source for notability. Only the third is an acceptable source but it is a local one, a local newsletter. Per WP:AUD local coverage is not evidence of notability for an organisation.

Again, as I wrote in my proposed deletion, local charitable organisations are very common. They exist throughout the UK, many in each town and city, and the vast majority will not be notable. JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 11:37, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I believe the following serves as ample evidence of notability: this charity has just been awarded (1 June 2018) The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2018 in recognition of their outstanding voluntary work in the community. This award is also known as "the MBE for charities". Mrs nerd (talk) 13:48, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • it was the winner of a Queen’s Award. As according to the source the government handed out 250 this year it is not that special an award. And it needs proper sourcing, the government’s own website is not a reliable source for government announcements. It needs e.g. a news organisation to notice it, which they would surely do if it were a major award.--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 14:12, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • also if it is known as "the MBE for charities", having an MBE does not make a person notable. See e.g. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Monk MBE.--JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 14:23, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
