He competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics but did not win a medal. He is the father of Chloe Esposito and Max Esposito but that isn't sufficient by itself to show notability. A WP:BEFORE search didn't bring up enough sources to pass WP:GNG. Suonii180 (talk) 00:16, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Fails WP:NOLY. LibStar (talk) 00:23, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect to Modern pentathlon at the 1984 Summer Olympics – Men's individual per WP:ATD.4meter4 (talk) 00:24, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Notable as coach. --Kasper2006 (talk) 04:24, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Bare assertions are worthless. Significant coverage is required to support such claims. wjematherplease leave a message... 13:42, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Unsure. There are a very large number of pages about people who competed at Olympic games. I'm not sure whether we want to discuss thousands of similar pages. JMWt (talk) 10:14, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A huge number of these articles are being deleted or redirected. MarchOfTheGreyhounds (talk) 18:39, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect to Chloe Esposito (his daughter). Fails all criteria for a standalone article (WP:NOLY, WP:NSPORTS, WP:GNG, WP:BASIC) due to lack of significant coverage. Redirect to the article about his daughter seems like the best WP:ATD since there is more detail retained there than in an event article, and she is clearly notable whereas his son Max is not so much. wjematherplease leave a message... 13:42, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • This is probably SIGCOV. BeanieFan11 (talk) 14:36, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Calling it significant coverage would be a stretch (tells us he's a builder from Sydney and very little else) and it's only one source. Much more is needed to actually write a complete article (WP:WHYN). wjematherplease leave a message... 14:40, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak Keep I think there is just enough coverage of the subject to meet WP:GNG, thanks to the work of BeanieFan11. There are also multiple references to the subject as a coach and critic of the rules changes for the pentathlon. There is also the Olympic results we cannot ignore. If there is a redirect, it should be to Modern pentathlon at the 1984 Summer Olympics – Men's individual as opposed to either of the subject's children. --Enos733 (talk) 15:56, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per coverage provided by User:BeanieFan11 that is sufficient to pass WP:GNG. Frank Anchor 16:26, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Coverage doesn't go beyond routine sports reporting, so is does not reach the standard needed to pass GNG. wjematherplease leave a message... 16:35, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
ROUTINE is a subsection of Wikipedia:Notability (events), and so it does not apply to people. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:55, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
"Significant coverage addresses the topic directly and in detail...; the routine sports reporting you found doesn't do that with respect to the subject here. As above, aside from competition results, detail is limited to him being from Sydney, and working as a builder because he had no sponsorship. It's nowhere near enough. wjematherplease leave a message... 17:04, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    We'll just have to disagree on that. BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:10, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak Keep. I'd say the coverage I've found is just enough to get him over the GNG bar. BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:10, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep - the coverage is enough to get over the line. Deus et lex (talk) 20:59, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - With the articles BeanieFan11 found and the section about him in this article about his children, I think Esposito meets NBASIC, which specifically says "multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability." Hatman31 (talk) 20:57, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - per the additional coverage presented. Per NBASIC, Per WP:GNG.BabbaQ (talk) 23:31, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - I found even more sources about the family and expanded the article a bit.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 20:31, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
