Fails WP:NBASEBALL. At a glance, he appears to pass WP:NBASEBALL #2, which lists the Negro Major Leagues as a qualifying league that, once played in, confers notability, and Long played for the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro American League. However, he joined the team in 1952; the last season in which the NAL was a major league was 1951. The remainder of his career is all minorleague play as well; the main claim to his notability is a color barrier breaking - but while that is courageous and admirable, it's only in a single town's team. If it had been in a league in a whole, he might well be notable for it, but as only in a single team, it doesn't pass the bar. His post-baseball career doesn't rise to notability either, and the Kinston Professional Baseball Hall of Fame isn't a major hall of fame for notability either.
In short: this is one heck of a swell guy and he'd never have to buy a drink if he was in a bar with me, but he simply doesn't have notability as defined by Wikipedia. The Bushranger One ping only 03:41, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep. A cursory google search reveals a number of sources that discuss Long in depth. More than enough to pass GNG. Spanneraol (talk) 04:09, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep: This guy is very notable based on the significant coverage guideline. Books - [1], [2] and [3]. Websites - [4], [5], and [6]. There are more sources as well. I don't understand this nomination because there is plenty of coverage that is easy to find. SL93 (talk) 19:37, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
