Blackrock, Washington[edit]

Declined PROD. Non-notable location. I can find several passing mentions to a "Blackrock district" or "Blackrock lands" in local press, mostly from the 1900s and 1910s, nothing more recent than 1939. But all of these are trivial mentions about the daily happenings of some John Doe "of Blackrock district" as rural newspapers often used to publish. This does not ever seem to have been a "community", though, and no other information was found; the coordinates locate to empty grasslands, with a small "Black Rock Cemetery" nearby. This must have been a place significant to some people, but we have no record of it and therefore can't have an article; fails WP:GEOLAND because it wasn't legally-recognized and fails WP:GNG for lack of SIGCOV. Delete This is one of the farming districts. There is one single passing mention of it as a town. Here:https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-yakima-herald-blackrock-town/140746918/. All other mentions either don't specify what it is, or they are "Blackrock District", "Blackrock Valley" and a few other similar descriptions. These are the districts in 1909 https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-yakima-herald-seattleaypeyakimacou/79192547/ see the top right. I came at it from the other direction and tried to find the Blackrock Creek documented. I couldn't even get contemporary documentation for it in Yakima County. The Washington State Geologist only recorded a Blackrock Creek in a completely different county. Uncle G (talk) 03:17, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
delete Someone at GNIS liked that place names book, because here we have another example where it is the source. A very early topo shows "Black Rock" as a label somewhat north of the cemetery, but these early maps don't show buildings so it's impossible to figure what was really there. Later the GNIS people assumed that the cemetery was in town, which is not usually the case in these western rural areas. The topos also record the area as "Black Rock Valley", btw.
