- Comment First contribution from a new editor; welcome to the Articles for Deletion forum, suffice to say that nearly all of us first learned of it after having one of our own articles nominated for deletion, and that nothing said here should be taken personally. That said, Wikipedia has to place limits on individual articles (and for anyone who says "I know that already", this isn't addressed to that person). A topic has to be notable enough that there are sources (books, periodicals, websites) that show that it gets widespread coverage, or that it gets a free pass under a particular policy. However, we also have policies against "how to" articles (referred to as WP:HOWTO), including recipes, so that even if beef fizz is notable, directions on how to prepare it would be barred. Besides the risk of liability that goes with having articles that people might rely upon, an encyclopedia that anyone can edit is at risk of having how-to instructions edited as well -- hence, someone can throw the word "Clorox" into a list of ingredients until someone else discovers it. Your contributions to Wikipedia are encouraged, but bear in mind that there are some things that have to be left out, for various reasons. I have to concur with the delete. - Delete. Ah, a Beef Fizz. I have a similar recipe. Fill a highball glass with ice. Add one jigger of Laphroaig or another single malt Islay Scotch whisky, one jigger of Fernet Branca, one jigger of Czech absinthe, and one jigger of Clamato. Fill with Red Bull to the top. Garnish with a hamburger dill pickle slice for a refreshing summer beverage. At any rate, this describes a drink made of a mixture of beef broth and club soda, but my recipe is better. - Smerdis of Tlön - killing the human spirit since 2003! 14:30, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete Simply a recipe, which violates the rule that Wikipedia is not the place for how-to articles. From a Google search it appears there is no history or significance to discuss; in fact the drink is almost nonexistent at Google. The recipe presented here was from a Campbell's cookbook of 1968; apparently it never caught on. --MelanieN (talk) 14:38, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
