The two sources, GNIS and Durham, are insufficient to establish notability and I'm not finding anything else that describes this as anything more than a railroad landmark. Fails WP:GEOLAND #2. –dlthewave 04:28, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Speedy delete Article falsely misrepresents the source: Durham says "Pilot Knob station of Butterfield Overland stage line was at the the place", not that Pilot Knob is the former name of the settlement, or that it even was a (notable) settlement since Durham just calls it a locality and GNIS a locale. • Delete - per nom and Reywas92. Locales fail WP:GEOLAND. Hog Farm Bacon 05:55, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep it was the site of a stagecoach stop in 1857 [1]. Pilot Knob was the name of a nearby power house [2] [3]. This shows there was once someone living at the place. There was a flood at the site which was reported and it was considered as the site of a park. Also was noted as the start/stop point for highway paving several times [4]. It's a railroad/stage coach place, but its notability isn't zero, and I would prefer an ATD somewhere if we're not going to keep this as a stub, but I don't have any suggestions on where right now - ideas? • Delete No post office. GNIS indicates that this locale is different from Araz Junction and Old Araz Stage Depot. (In addition, there are differing opinions [5] about the Araz Stage Depot). GBooks has railroad and powerhouse/irrigation hits for Araz, but nothing that indicates that there was someone living there. It could be that most of the various newspapers.com links found by SportingFlyer are about these other location. The exceptions are a map that shows Araz being adjacent to the Pilot Knob power plant and the article that states that a telegrapher worked at Araz Junction, though the article later mentions "Araz" without the "Junction". It seems to me that this is a rail siding that takes its name from the purported stage depot. Other than the one article, I found no evidence that anyone lived there. If Araz was a station, WP:STATION applies and it is not notable enough for coverage. I found no legal recognition, so #1 of WP:GEOLAND is not met. There is very little coverage about this particular Araz, though there seems to be coverage about other, nearby locations, so #2 of WP:GEOLAND is not met. If someone comes up with compelling citations that this Araz is anything more than a rail siding, I'd gladly change my vote. Cxbrx (talk) 21:26, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
