Fails WP:SUSTAINED. This can be compared to the Baltimore shooting a month later; while they had similar casualty counts, but much less response and controversy on the part of the Illinois shooting. Lettlerhello • contribs 18:32, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

- Weak keep Smacks of WP:NOTNEWS except for the following possible redeemable qualities: 1. Sheer number of casualties. Of the 427 (as of this writing) mass shootings in 2023, this one had the 3rd highest injury count. 2. Coverage focused heavily on what day it took place, as if to decry the willful shattering of the joyous Juneteenth holiday; had it occurred on any other day, it might not have garnered any response from the White House. 3. The incident led to state and local officials calling attention to adverse living conditions in the area, which they believed might have contributed to the event. 4. Since the perpetrators have yet to be found, their possible apprehension might create further interest, as it did in the similar 2023 Baltimore shooting (although WP:CRYSTAL somewhat negates this). - Redirect to List of mass shootings in the United States in 2023: I don't think receiving a statement from the WH makes this meet notability guidelines. StartOkayStop (talk) 19:59, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
