Suspected sockpuppets

Quack quack for the IP. During the topic-ban discussion, the named accounts - Al-alay45 (in Hebrew, though machine translation will verify my assessment), WoW65, and TheEditorFromEpsomRC2 - were WP:SPAs created immediately after the topic ban discussion started, that tried to defend TheFallenCrowd by claiming the issue should go to arbitration, despite the universal approval (sans TFC) of TFC's topic ban. There's probably some IP hopping, so I'll settle for WP:DUCK, but if someone wants to run a CU I'll not complain. Ian.thomson (talk) 17:11, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

And now he's claiming to be Justin Beiber. Ian.thomson (talk) 17:24, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think a CU should be run. While there's some pretty clear quacking, there should be a sleeper check. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 17:14, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I've added the CUrequest for sleepers. Ian.thomson (talk) 17:22, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Note that JBieberOfficial, TheEditorFromEpsomRC2 and WoW65 have now been blocked. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 17:33, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Considering the mass disruption that this has caused at AN/I, I support this check and the block of all accounts involved. Dusti*Let's talk!* 17:37, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User:Hennis 90 90 was the first of these accounts to show up, though the content added (some nonsense about porn) seemed to be designed to disrupt or ridicule the debate rather than directly support TFC. Paul B (talk) 17:43, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW Hennis 90 90 (talk · contribs) seems to be related to this IP who made almost exactly the same edit at AN just a few minutes before the one made by H at AN/I. IMO they are unrelated but time will tell. MarnetteD|Talk 19:12, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please feel free to run whatever technical checks you want. All I ask is that when the results come back, and your allegations are proven to be lies, that you apologize in a prominent place.TheFallenCrowd (talk) 18:03, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I presume the converse would be true as well? --Ebyabe talk - Border Town ‖ 18:08, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Some may be meatpuppets. How many people over the age of 30 are likely to identify as Justin Bieber? Paul B (talk) 19:02, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Geraldine H Robertson III (talk · contribs) seems to be another to add to the list. --David Biddulph (talk) 19:18, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WoW65 may be a sockpuppet of Homeontherange/NigelHowells - creation of hoax stubs and an edit to Wigan adding (probably fake) trivia linked to an article vandalised by Homeontherange - NigelHowells claimed to be from Wigan; WoW65 and Geraldine H Robinson III both commented on AN/I mentioning users banned many years ago. I suspect that there are two trolls here (Homeontherange and Hennis 90 90) both unrelated to TheFallenCrowd. Peter James (talk) 23:23, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk, CheckUser, and/or patrolling admin comments[edit]

Clerk endorsed. Although these accounts probably all deserve to be blocked, including the master, it would be helpful to confirm which ones are technically related and if there are any others.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:58, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • While we're waiting for another CU, I'm posting this for its marginal information value only. The topic ban discussion regarding FallenCrowd recently derailed into calls for blocks, including one based on sock puppetry. FallenCrowd has now been blocked for three months based on a consensus (that frankly I don't see). My biggest concern was that he would be blocked based on sock puppetry, even though, as of yet, there's no technical evidence indicating he's socked, and the only strong behavioral evidence is his using the IP for block evasion. I'm not even sure at this point I'd block him for that, either.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:14, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • JBieberOfficial (talk · contribs), TheEditorFromEpsomRC2 (talk · contribs), and Hennis 90 90 (talk · contribs) are on separate proxies. I'm not sure I agree on a confirmed relation noted above, but I need to dig a little deeper first. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 01:31, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've done further checking, it seems every account, except TheFallenCrowd (talk · contribs) is on a proxy. No technical correlation can be taken from any of these accounts. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 02:02, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've left unchanged the block status of all the accounts. I've untagged all the accounts pointing to TheFallenCrowd as the master. Given the fact that TheFallenCrowd is currently blocked for 3 months, there's no point in blocking him based on duck for the block evasion. I don't think I would anyway. I will inform the ANI discussion of the results (for those who aren't following this) because I think it needs to be made clear to those discussing TheFallenCrowd's fate. After I finish this note, I will close the report.--Bbb23 (talk) 04:52, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
