Very DUCKy again, same sockfarm. Same sort of edits to same articles. Like [1][2] or [3][4] and other examples. Articles like Bigg Boss Tamil 2 is protected, so presumably they have to use an account again instead of dynamic IP hopping. Single-purpose accounts. Vrunda.amin recreated Draft:Losliya, which was previously created by User:Sherin.Love. (Losliya Mariyanesan was created by User:Srinesh.saravanan.) Lakshmi.venkatachalam created Draft:Losliya Marianesan. Oh wow, I didn't realize it's 2008 that the other account was created. That probably does predate the mass socking. That said, the sockmaster is likely not the original anyway, but just the account that started this particular chain of reports. I haven't followed this long enough to comment on when it started. The focus is Bigg Boss and related articles, and that's been around for more than a decade with the problematic edits from the start. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 19:17, 12 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Vrunda.amin is  Confirmed.  Blocked and tagged. Lakshmi.venkatachalam is Red X Unrelated from a technical standpoint (on a different continent with a different device), but admittedly, their behavior is similar. The two Losliya drafts are similar, but there are several noticeable differences in their content: [17][18]. The Lakshmi.venkatachalam account also returned from a 12-year dormancy (created in 2008, far predating the sockmaster, but did not edit until a few months ago). I will defer it to another admin or clerk to decide whether that account should be blocked as well, notwithstanding the CU results. Mz7 (talk) 02:28, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

PreethaHari recreated Draft:Losliya. Special:Contributions/175.38.87.157 edited immediately after, which is then likely their IP? In any case, the IP is likely the same master, since it's all edits are all to the Bigg Boss and related articles. Noticed when I wanted to G5 IP's draft, but it was made by an account. Created Draft:List of Bigg Boss (Tamil TV series) controversies. Next day Special:Contributions/175.38.87.157 somehow found this draft. Account naming also appears the same (two names with a period in between). The account created Losliya, which has been a constant socking target, although the content is different, so it might be a huge coincidence. Although they ignored AfC result, which usually indicates issues. Their decent use of wiki syntax and such might indicate prior knowledge. Name is "LosliyaFC", which is likely "Fan Club"? Having persons and Losliya's name in name has been common. Word "fan" was used by "Oviya.fan", although that might be a stretch. They linked the person's article [26], which socks have done aplenty, but it's also an expected edit for linking to a new article. Then there's Special:Contributions/49.196.29.132 (Perth, Australia) who ended up on the same Losliya article intermixing edits which is the geolocation of sock IPs (175.38.65.109/16, 58.108.12.151/16). But again, could be a big coincidence and the IP stumbling upon the article. Notifying the user in this case. Asking for CU because I'm only like 50% sure it's a sock account and a quick IP check could instantly confirm. I'm 99% sure about 49.196.29.132. New account editing and restoring same edits on an article that known sock IP is edit warring at (and I'm reverting per WP:BANREVERT). Same name as confirmed User:Nehashitole90. IP geolocation matches all the previous socking. Most telling is Somshekar -- creating a full articles, then immediately edited by the IP already-associated with this sockfarm. Re-creating Santhosh Kumar (Sandy Master) article, which has been a target of socks forever. Similar username pattern and article interests. Recreating articles deleted in deletion discussions and that involved prior socks. Specifically Losliya involved several socks in this case, and Pavithra Lakshmi involved socks from Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Giriprasad Damodar 02 and Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Romil.Choudary. Clearly not a new user, see edits 5 and 6: [27][28] with good formatting and creation of well formatted article on edit 11 (immediately after reaching auto-confirmed). Shruthi Hari is a newly created SPA, that shows up to remove a PROD on article created by now blocked sock. Implausible level of Wikipedia markup knowledge, e.g. [29].

Also 58.108.95.170 is clearly them too based on article overlap and on this close editing sequence with blocked sock Kavitha.Syed:

  1. 13:25: IP [30]
  2. 13:26: Page move by KS sock
  3. 13:27: IP [31]

Note this is the only action done by Kavitha.Syed on 23 August. Page moves may only be performed by auto-confirmed users and neither the IP nor newly created SPA were AC. The user must have realized they needed an AC account and logged in to do that and that only.

Also 175.38.56.218 is clearly them. Same ISP, same geolocations, and picking up editing where 58.108.95.170 left off, beginning on the evening of 24 August and continuing on the 25th. Overlap in articles is too large to be coincidental.

83-edit account, created Survivor (Tamil season 1) previously created by sock Kavitha.Syed, a week after it was G5ed. Shares topic interests with master here. Also checkuser blocked on Commons (appears to be confirmed to Kavitha.Syed there by User:Elcobbola's blocking log on Commons). Checkuser to confirm + flush out additional accounts (e.g. the report above, and there are possibly other low edit accounts involved), there are more edits on enwiki than on Commons, so CU on enwiki is more likely to glean results. Remyas.45 is checkuser blocked on Commons (same batch), and overlaps on article interests in enwiki (Tamil Survivor). On Commons Sanjay.Thumma and Anjana.Rangan.Fan are also CU blocked from the batch, but both do not have enwiki edits. Eostrix  (🦉 hoot hoot🦉) 14:43, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also there is Category:Sockpuppets of Srinesh.saravanan on Commons with better confirmation than the blocker's log for the connection of Poorika and Remyas.45 to this case. Perusing the socks on Commons, it may be worthwhile to merge Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Romil.Choudary into this case as Romil.Choudary, Powerstar2020, Nirojaradha, and Bilal.Choudary2 are marked there as Srinesh.saravanan socks and on the Romil.Choudary archive on enwiki the connection has also been raised by User:Finngall and User:Hellknowz.--Eostrix  (🦉 hoot hoot🦉) 15:51, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Newly created Progressiveness account re-reverted an edit of Poorika that was reverted. I was mildly suspicious yesterday and had a look at their edits, and I [ reverted them at Quinns Rocks, Western Australia. The next day 175.38.56.218 shows up, and reverts.

Both 175.38.56.218 and Progressiveness share an interest with previous socks here (e.g. Poorika). The IP edited Survivor (the Tamil version) and associated BLPs, and locations in Australia. Progressiveness also edited various Indian entertainment figures in addition to Australia edits (and re-instating Poorika's edit).

Furthermore, the archive here is full of IPs from 175.38.0.0/17 range and the range had been blocked twice (1 month each) in 2020 for socking in this case. Eostrix (🦉 hoot hoot🦉) 09:22, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
