Suspected sockpuppets

These editors have been removing the sources from Edward Maya. All four editors have removed the sources exactly the same way, see the history. See the diffs by ADCDL, Hellspring, 187.109.232.3, Cries of Chaos. Harout72 (talk) 04:59, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

This IP was previously banned for three months (also banned from account creation) for creating the accounts indefinitely banned under Phantasus Magician's case. Now that their block has expired, they have created Pumpking the King of Ghosts (talk · contribs) and have set about editing the same pages they did months ago; giving misleading edit summaries ("restoring references" when they're not), removing copious amounts of data and references at pages like Hardwell discography under the exact same misleading edit summaries used months ago ("fixed typo") and removing a whole section while giving the summary "corrected typo".

A particular target of theirs is EDM producer/DJs from Europe, like Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, a target months ago, now edited by both user and IP with misleading summaries ("nothing there, removing" and "added peak").

Both have also edited, sometimes within minutes of the other: Tujamo (diff and diff), KSHMR (diff and diff) and Chuckie (DJ) (diff and diff). They have the same old patterns of behaviour as Phantasus Magician and the other banned accounts. There may be other accounts, which is why I'm requesting CU. Ss112 10:56, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Update: IP has now created ADCDL95 (talk · contribs) (directly named after one of the banned Phantasus Magician accounts) and started reverting their own edits (diff and diff), some imitating my own edit summaries to try to obfuscate their own intentions and identity. Ss112 11:16, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Another account created, Oathkepper (talk · contribs), restoring all of the same IP's edits I have been reverting. Ss112 08:01, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yet another account created to restore IP's edits to Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Sythed (talk · contribs). Added above. Ss112 13:32, 20 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Even before I saw this sockpuppet investigation I had already blocked the IP address for long-term disruptive editing, and posted queries to Oathkepper and Sythed about other accounts, because they looked so suspiciously like sockpuppets, even though at the time I didn't know whose sockpuppets they might be. I have now made comparisons of editing histories, and found much more connections among the accounts, in addition to what has been listed above. I have also seen tricks to evade scrutiny; for example, one account or IP address makes potentially controversial edits, and another account then makes uncontroversial edits to the same article, so that the controversial ones are not at the top of the editing history: that is a common technique used by experienced sockpuppeteers. I am certain that Pumpking the King of Ghosts = ADCDL95 and Oathkepper = Sythed, and it seems far more likely than not that all the accounts listed and the IP editor are the same person. I have blocked the accounts, and extended the IP block I had already placed. However, I am also requesting a CheckUser, because the editor's history makes it plausible that there may be other sockpuppets. (An earlier CU found additional sockpuppets that had not previously been noticed.) The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 12:17, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just for the record, I have now seen some edits of the previously established sockpuppets that I had not previously seen, and where I wrote above that "it seems far more likely than not" that all the accounts listed and the IP editor are the same person", I am now willing to say that it is certain. 02 December 2016[edit]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

The first three user accounts listed have been blocked by admins @Ian.thomson: and @JamesBWatson: for being connected to Phantasus Magician. They are again blanking and restoring content from EDM artists' discographies as they see fit just as they did late last year and early last year. They copy other editors' edit summaries to throw people off (they like copying my "Updated." even though they are not updating content at all; again here), and also remove content with misleading edit summaries.

Now that JamesBWatson has raised the required edit level for those discographies, they have targeted their other old favourites with the account Cuddly-Wuddly (talk · contribs), here and here, again with misleading edit summaries throughout their contributions.

I am requesting CheckUser to have the IP address behind these edits found (yes, I know it can't be disclosed) and blocked so the user can stop creating accounts, and to find if there any other accounts we don't yet know of that have been created as well. Ss112 19:55, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
