Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

I assume this is stale as far as checkuser is concerned, but continued filling of Talk:Patrick Treacy with personal attacks [1] (see also extensive IP edits doing the same in recent talk page history) make this one obvious on behavioural grounds. Appears to be an obvious case of undisclosed paid editing / block evasion to me. MrOllie (talk) 13:31, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

A number of new editors showing up to agree with each other at Talk:Patrick Treacy that the article should include promotional text and long lists of nonnotable awards. Writing styles are all very similar, but I think some of that might be due to use of ChatGPT. MrOllie (talk) 18:39, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • CheckUser requested - It is tough to block based on behavioral evidence alone here. The users are somewhat open about their POV. It could be sock puppetry, it could be meat puppetry, or it could besome sort of fan "club". In addition, the check should take into account Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Joyland2017 for a few reasons. First, it involves the same article. Second, there is an obvious username similarity between the socks in that case and Wikiwatcher2023 and Tariqsaeed2018, which by the way is the oldest of the three accounts listed here. Finally, Cothromas was "cleared" of socking by a clerk back then, but I don't find the reasons to be very compelling - a check was never run against them, as far as I can tell. I do know that all the socks from that case are apparently stale. Bbb23 (talk) 15:20, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is indeed a new batch of Joyland2017 socks; Cothromas and Tariqsaeed2018 are  Confirmed to socks at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Joyland2017/Archive, along with the SPAs Scremato and Sathonyan. Wikiwatcher2023 isn't confirmed to past socks but CU implies they're a meat/sock.  Blocked and tagged,  Clerk assistance requested: please merge this to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Joyland2017. Thanks, Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 05:22, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Last time there were some others, so a quick check is probably in order. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 00:15, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Possible to past socks.  No sleepers immediately visible. Already blocked, closing without further action. Mz7 (talk) 07:32, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note: checked per overlap here [2][3]. In the future, I would recommend providing diffs even in obvious cases just to make it easier on the reviewing admin/checkuser, who may not be familiar with the specific case. Mz7 (talk) 07:34, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

More promotional editing about Patrick Treacy, following from recent block of User:ChukkasBlowsier. This talk page post is typical, compare with the concern trolling posted by confirmed sock Wikiwatcher2023 MrOllie (talk) 15:29, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A Patrick Treacy-obsessed SPA, this one apparently trying to cover the tracks of Cothromas‎, another banned sock. Chris Troutman (talk) 15:48, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am absolutely nothing to do with Patrick Treacy. I am only interested in sorting out a real world mess created (quite innocently) by MrOllie and (quite wrongheadedly) by Patrick Treacy. I have no interest in covering the tracks of Cothromas. I have filed a complaint to Oversight about certain comments made by the Cothromas user because those comments were about me and they are wrong an defamatory. I am happy to provide any information necessary to deal with this. This sockpuppet notification was filed before I had any opportunity to take Chris troutman up on his suggestion to file an ANI. Once I went to ANI, it was clear that Oversight was where I needed to go. I have since been in touch with him to thank him for ultimately helping me to the right place, only to then discover he has reported me as a sockpuppet in the meantime!

I'm a single purpose account (if that is what SPA stands for) because I had to create an account to try and get some help. That was clearly a terrible idea. YourBelgianThings (talk) 17:36, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
