Suspected sockpuppets[edit]


All accounts are SPAs that are editting Wavinya Ndeti. The page had copyright issues in both text and a file on Commons. Invisiblered complained after the Commons file was deleted that US copyright law didn't apply to them [1] even though Felix.kilonzo was the account that inserted both the copyrighted file and text [2] . Kenyaboystar appeared today, reinserted a potential copyvio image on Commons, and created this as their user talk. Could be a meat situation instead of just socking, but also could be the same person. TonyBallioni (talk) 15:55, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note: I suspect the reason for the multiple accounts is block evasion on Commons [3], where Felix was blocked for a week for consistently uploading unfree files. TonyBallioni (talk) 16:02, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Felix.kilonzo made multiple edits to Wavinya Ndeti (and edits only pages pertaining to Machakos County gubernatorial election, 2017) most of which have now been revdelled, but here's one of many where they link a copyvio image they have uploaded to Commons. Eventually they get banned on Commons for repeatedly uploading that and other copyvio images.
Invisiblered pops up after that block, edits the same pages. Complains here that their account was blocked for copyvio. Now of course they're confused about being blocked on Commons vs on Wikipedia but it seems a fairly clear admission the second account was made for block evasion, and a clear confirmation that they're the same person. They get a final warning on their talk page and stop editing shortly afterwards.
Then Kenyanboystar pops up. Edits in exactly the same area, and wants to upload a photo of... Wavinya Ndeti, before editing the page to include an obvious copyvio image of Ndeti they uploaded. Pinkbeast (talk) 17:37, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • Pinkbeast, thanks for the report. They are also actively continuing to upload images on Commons. If the CU comes back positive, it might be worth getting a steward to global block or to notify a Commons admin. TonyBallioni (talk) 17:43, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Pink clock Awaiting administrative action - I am convinced that Kenyanboystar is a sock, based on obscure article interests, edits such as this, the uploading similarity, and this edit, in which they complain about the same thing as the sock.
