Similar behaviour, see diff. Uses the exact same edit summaries as the other socks. Please consider extending the master's block beyond 48 hours due to block evasion and refusal to serve even two hours of their initial block. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 09:23, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SILVAJASON created Ayan Nayak (119557005), which was previously created three times by AnonymousIndiaz (118482845, 118488954, 119009454). After the page was tagged for G4, SALHEB removed it. All three have impersonated more established Wikipedians: AnonymousIndiaz Spiderone, SILVAJASON Justiyaya, SALHEB KylieTastic and Materialscientist. Sdrqaz (talk) 00:10, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Another spam account trying to promote Ayan Nayak. This time he has been forced to do it under Ayan (actor) because of salting. • OK, I just blocked Caboti24 (talk · contribs) and Vavank98 (talk · contribs), and Nexus2321 (talk · contribs) is one of them also. Problem is I can't really figure out the best range or ranges to run CU on and to block--and we need a serious rangeblock here. So I need one of the hardcore CUs, the ones who can keep their head straight with lots of screens open. In the meantime I'm going to clean up all their poorly-written drafts. Thanks. • KARTIKEYDESAI111 is also listed at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Vyom420. That means either more evidence for the ranges and more support for strong action against either a larger drawer or two separately-actionable drawers, or more diversity and despair at stopping this mess:( DMacks (talk) 02:05, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • DMacks, that's why I need someone else, someone with better overview, to look at this. I did actually just block three /64 ranges, but there's a lot more. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 02:08, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Annoyingly, the way that this sockmaster's Internet service provider assigns IP addresses prevents us from making an effective range block—to do so would mean an inordinate amount of collateral damage to innocent users. If we need an alternative to whack-a-mole, I would instead look into requesting an edit filter to at least stop them from making more pages about Ayan Nayak specifically. In any case, when I looked, I didn't find any other accounts that Drmies didn't already find. I've blocked and tagged Nexus2321 (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki), since it looks like Drmies forgot to do so. Based off of the technical evidence, these users are on the same wide range and geolocate to the same area. They also use the exact same user agent. Given the contributions of both the accused sock, the accused master, and the account that I found and confirmed to Boti2481 while performing the check, they all have added "Ayan Nayak" in one or more of their edits. Based off of both the technical and behavioral evidence, I am blocking all accounts and tagging them as sock puppets of the master. This SPI will then be closed... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:01, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Immediately after Boti2481 was blocked by Oshwah, Samita1212 appeared to make further edits to Draft:Rishton Ka Manjha and also to resume conversing with me on my talk page.

Samita1212 was subsequently blocked by Oshwah, after which Raviana48 appeared with the same modus operandi: Edit the draft and leave a comment on my talk page. Because I am a WP:INVOLVED admin I probably should not be taking action here.

Boti2481 protested in a block appeal that he never heard of the sockmaster, but the accounts created since then are clearly the same person based on behavioral evidence, particularly since Boti2481 threatened to keep creating new accounts in order to continue editing. ~Anachronist (talk) 17:33, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gghy appears to have made 10 edits for the purpose of editing Draft:Rishton Ka Manjha, which was semi-protected due to persistent sockpuppetry from AnonymousIndiaz. Clerk, CheckUser, and/or patrolling admin comments[edit]

After I semi-protected Draft:Rishton Ka Manjha due to repeated block evasion and copyvio by sockpuppets, it was predictable that a new sockpuppet would emerge to circumvent the protection. This one quacks like a WP:DUCK.

I know from past comments in this SPI case that the IP range is quite wide, but can we maybe have a range block on some narrower ranges that would cover these socks? ~Anachronist (talk) 18:30, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Update: Because the draft was created by an IP address now blocked as a sockpuppet, I have deleted it in accordance with WP:G5 and salted it. Although I was conversing with this editor in good faith before I found out about the sockpuppetry, my actions since then have been administrative, so I no longer consider myself WP:INVOLVED. Therefore I am blocking this sock per WP:DUCK due to the activity of this user since this SPI case was filed.
I suspect it is likely that there are sleeper accounts established for the same purpose of evading the block to promote that Indian TV show ~Anachronist (talk) 18:53, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

31 August 2021[edit]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

WP:DUCK: created Draft:Rishton Ka Manjha (2021) with the exact same kind of garbled plot summary as the old Draft:Rishton Ka Manjha, which is create protected. খানকির চালে's draft was moved to mainspace and then to Rishton Ka Manjha, with the help of a couple of good faith-assuming editors. খানকির চালে has also requested that Ayan Nayak be created – that title is also salted, having been created by AnonymousIndiaz and by SILVAJASON, who is another sock.

Clear COI issues: Ayan Nayak is an actor who appears in the TV show Rishton Ka Manjha. There is another brand-new article about an actor from the same series, Aanchal Goswami, and খানকির চালে's first edit was to that article. bonadea contributions talk 08:31, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Surajvicky023 who is another SPA; created four days ago, made 11 edits, created Draft:Ayan Nayak this morning and apparently tagged it for deletion again, and then moved Draft:Rishton Ka Manjha to Rishton Ka Manjha. A CU would be great, to see what other sleepers might have been created. --bonadea contributions talk 20:40, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

After the previous socks were blocked and Draft:Rishton Ka Manjha was deleted per WP:G5, the draft was quickly re-created by খানকির চালে with participation from the other suspected socks listed, including Surajvicky023 "accepting" the draft to move it into main space. Prior socks have admitted to a COI, and seem desperate to get an article about this TV show into main space, even resorting to copyright violations. I was not as sure about খানকির চালে being a sock because the new version of the draft was started with somewhat different content from the last deleted version, but it quickly evolved into being substantially identical to the last deleted version (including copyvio). The fact that খানকির চালে added a plot summary identical to a previously blocked sock quacks rather loudly. ~Anachronist (talk) 02:05, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have indef-blocked the suspected sockpuppets, blocked the IP addresses for 3 months, and deleted the draft per WP:G5. ~Anachronist (talk) 02:30, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

See my update below; hold off blocking this one for now.

Appeared a few hours after I create-protected Draft:Rishton Ka Manjha (semi-protected). २ तकर पेप्सी proceeded to make a bunch of decent main space edits, probably in an effort to get autoconfirmed (which happens in a couple of days), after which the user requested on my talk page to unprotect the draft. Because this user apparently edits from a wide range of IP addresses, a checkuser may not be able to confirm a connection, but please try. ~Anachronist (talk) 17:27, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Anachronist: I am curious to see whether their draft will mention Ayan Nayak (who AnonymousIndiaz has been attempting to promote from day one), because from what I can tell, not a single RS mentions him as being a part of this show, and yet all previous drafts have attempted to place him front and center. That would be strange coming from an employee of the TV production company. I guess we'll see. DanCherek (talk) 18:42, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@DanCherek: I share your curiosity also. That's why I'd like to give this one some WP:ROPE. ~Anachronist (talk) 18:56, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Today २ तकर पेप्सी moved Kolkatar Harry into mainspace (an IP created it as a draft). This appears to be another attempt to spam Ayan Nayak, whose name does not actually appear in any of the article's sources but is mysteriously listed second in the Cast section. I believe २ तकर पेप्सी and the IP are both sockpuppets of AnonymousIndiaz. DanCherek (talk) 17:04, 16 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Update: this conversation on my talk page explains the situation, and why the IP addresses have been so diverse. It's a team of different people.

I'd like to hold off blocking this one for now. I believe that this is a new user, not one person evading a block, who has explained that we have blocked several different people on their team, and he was asked by his employer to try to solve the problem of people getting blocked and the article being deleted. The user is willing to abide by Wikipedia policies and guidelines. There is already a paid editing disclosure on the user page.

This SPI appears to be a case of meatpuppetry instigated by an employer (likely the supervisor of all the users we've blocked in this SPI case so far) who is clueless about Wikipedia policies and guidelines. I want to see how this one goes. I'll monitor it. ~Anachronist (talk) 18:35, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion from Talk:Ayan Nayak

There has been a relatively long campaign by UPE editors and sockpuppets to promote this actor. See this talk page post, which links to a number of previous discussions and evidence of fishy goings-on, including falsification of images to make it look as if the person was notable. Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/AnonymousIndiaz/Archive is also relevant, in particular the report from 2 September 2021, which concerns the user who created this redirect; two days later, the same user requested removal of the salt at Ayan (actor) in order to redirect it to an article about a different film. The promotionalism is strong in this one. --bonadea contributions talk 10:14, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The hyperfocus on Ayan, whom the community has twice deemed to be thoroughly non-notable, has always been the biggest red flag to me. For a while that name was synonymous with the AnonymousIndiaz SPI because they alone were obsessed with him – it wasn't like he was one of those minor celebrities who falls short of WP:NACTOR but had a decent online fanbase. So yes, I think it's strange that Anachroliz has been trying so hard to create this article and shoehorn him into related TV articles, uploading Ayan's now-deleted signature to Commons marked as "own work" (among doctored and Flickrwashed photos of Ayan), and extensively editing Ayan's now-deleted Wikidata entry. And I think it's strange – and I suppose you will assess how coincidental it is – that AnonymousIndiaz, who stubbornly created twenty-one confirmed or suspected sockpuppets in a two-month period (SPIs from July 1 to August 31, 2021), suddenly stopped and has not resurfaced since, while Anachroliz started editing on September 1, 2021. FWIW, I don't think CU will do much here nor do I think Atul2901 is related. DanCherek (talk) 20:57, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I was suspicious when I found out the editor was changing their username to that of their "two favorite admins". Admins shouldn't have fans. Just to say something, the account might not be directly related to AnonymousIndiaz, but it could be related to Anachroliz or Atul2901. @Itcouldbepossible Hi. CU is a funny thing; there's some technical data available for us to look at. There's lots of reasons multiple accounts run by a single person can show up unrelated; some are entirely innocent, some are the result of deliberate attempts at deception, or anywhere in between. I can only report what the data shows, and a behavioral evaluation needs to be done using my CU result as just one input. There's lots of socks, we don't catch them all. -- RoySmith (talk) 14:20, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

GentBeaus69 says on their Meta user page that they are Bijoy2020 and lost their password. Here are some reasons I think they may be AnonymousIndiaz:

  • GentBeaus69 adds Ayan to the cast of Draft:Raavan (2022 film) [6][7]. Anachroliz (talk · contribs) did this in the deleted version of the same page.
  • More fixation on Ayan Nayak from both accounts [8][9] and numerous sequential edits on Ayan [10]
  • Tendency to interact out of the blue with editors their socks have previously interacted with, like this comment on my talk page by Bijoy2020 (we have never interacted elsewhere and I was confused why they were watching my talk page at all); GentBeaus69 commenting on this Commons DR by আফতাবুজ্জামান, who has also reported past socks; GentBeaus69 copying Itcouldbepossible's talk page archive setup [11]
  • Manual updates to Wikipedia:Articles for creation/recent of drafts they moved themselves without AFC reviewer rights: [12][13]
  • Some similarities in edit summaries ("Article linked" [14][15], changing section headings with "Better" [16][17], "Fixed position" [18][19]) DanCherek (talk) 12:53, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This draft must be deleted to stop the socks or further socks from editing it. Even if no CSD criteria applies to it, it can be deleted stating that it has been deleted to stop the LTA from editing it. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 13:53, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The amazing part of Bijoy2020 is that it had once filed a case against a user stating that they are AnonymousIndiaz, and now he himself is a sockpuppet of the said user. Funny though!ItcouldbepossibleTalk 16:21, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
