March 22[edit]

Any idea how I can watch The Taste (UK TV series)[edit]

I am a big fan The Taste and recently found out that there is a UK version that features the same judges as the American version.

I live in the US, I would like to watch this program (whole episodes, not just clips) legally and am willing to pay for it. I watched the US version of The Taste on Amazon Video but I can't seem to find it on Amazon or iTunes. Any ideas?--Jerk of Thrones (talk) 06:47, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You might think that it could be found on pirate-like bit-torrent sites, but I could not possibly comment. ( The phrasing is based on the original UK version of "House of Cards", and meant in jest.) Star Lord - 星王 (talk) 09:36, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Episodes 9 and 7 are on YouTube. Probably more hiding under stealthier names. InedibleHulk (talk) 01:21, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sihi-juoma[edit]

In the Finnish translations of Carl Barks's Donald Duck stories, Donald is fond of a brand of soda lemonade called "Sihi-juoma" (approximate Finnish for "fizzy drink"). What is the original English name? JIP | Talk 11:34, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A brief Google search only revealed Donald Duck Soda. Alansplodge (talk) 11:49, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
One early Donald Duck drink was Gurgleurp®. However, if the translations were instead made from the Italian mags, instead of the american, then originals may well have been various wines. Star Lord - 星王 (talk) 12:08, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ORION PRODUCTIONS[edit]

Hi, I wanted some additional info on a firm by the name of Orion Productions at 1458 11th Street in Santa Monica, CA that existed in 1959 per a letter I have from Eric C. Andreou in Greece dated 22nd January 1959 with a response from H.R. Kemm on the Orion letterhead dated Feb. 10, 1959. I expected to find something in Wikipedia as I have so many times in the past, but could only find the Orion Pictures entry which says was founded in 1978 and I find no reference therein to a predecessor, only successor. The letter from Greece indicates they came upon Orion's advertisement in the December (1958) issue of American Cinematographer and have a need for their script writing ability. It would appear they were a full service production company. The proposed film was a documentary on Greek Shipping and involved Aristotle Onassis. Can you provide any info on this corp. and their productions? Larry Salisbury — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.185.152.14 (talk) 23:10, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There's an Orion Productions that appears to have been founded in 1956 by Phyllis Ryan. It appears, however, to be an Irish live-theatre production company, so that may not be the same company as what you are looking for. Still, it's a lead. --Jayron32 23:22, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It may be This Orion Productions. There's scant information there, but it was an LA-based company founded in 1955. That may give you some leads. --Jayron32 23:31, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Just FYI, I checked city directories for 1958 and 1960 on ancestry.com, the latest available for Santa Monica, and there's nothing useful. 1958 showed that address as "vacant" and 1960 showed it as "no return", and neither one had Orion-anything in the name listings. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 23:54, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Orion Productions was founded in 1955 as Henry Fonda's production company. That would be the same company that Jayron32 found. It seems likely that this was the same company, although I can't be sure, since I don't see many references to it after 1957, when Fonda used it as his production company for 12 Angry Men but said he would not produce any more films. The mailing address in Jayron32's link is for the company's corporate registered agent, which probably doesn't tell us anything. John M Baker (talk) 15:14, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Is this the same Orion Productions which has a video logo that starts as the constellation Orion, then the three stars from his belt spin into a circle, which becomes a film reel and then the "O" from Orion ? StuRat (talk) 16:54, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That would be Orion Pictures, which began in the late 1970s. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 18:24, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. StuRat (talk) 03:12, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
