The Visitation (Doctor Who) poacher's highwayman's accent[edit]

What is the accent of Richard Mace played by Michael Robbins in the Fifth Doctor Who episode, The Visitation? Many of the characters seem to have what I would guess are somerset accents, but this character's accent is non-rhotic. Do tell. μηδείς (talk) 04:27, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your titular reference to the poacher initially threw me, because Richard Mace ( Michael Robbins) [whose details I think you added to your question retrospectively, though I may be mistaken] is a highwayman, while the poacher is a different character who also appears (though with little dialogue). Your surmise is correct, Mace, the self-described ex-actor turned highwayman, is exhibiting a deliberately acquired "stage" accent from the 19th or (the earlier half of the) 20th century which has now become a British comedic stereotypical characteristic of an "old-school" Shakespearean actor. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.197.66.221 (talk) 13:42, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, my fault, I originally mistakenly identified the highwayman with the poacher, then corrected the text above but did not correct the header. If you are interested, Frumpo, he's the somewhat dandyish long haired big nosed chap with a deep gravelly voice carrying a pistol who appears as the doctor's ally throughout the serial after the first half of part one. I'll accept the IP's answer since it doesn't contradict my own suspicions. :)

You're not going to find them anytime soon. See 2011 NBA lockout. Golden_State_Warriors#TV covers their most recent TV broadcast partners. No idea what's going to happen post-lockout (if there is even a 2011-2012 season. Many commentators think that the entire season may shutdown). film of The Ton of Fun[edit]

Dear Sir/Madam, I have in my posession an old 35mm film of The Ton of Fun team. It seems to be called "Three Missing Links". The only reference I can find for this film is in list furnished by your pages, but they give little detail about the players. It is NOT the Three Stooges film of the same title. I am trying to find the name of the actor who played the Police officer in this film. He also appears as a policeman in "The Lost World" 1925 (briefly). I wonder if you could help me in this matter?
