January 1[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on January 1, 2024.

Is[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget.

Retarget to dabs IS and To Be; few other dictionary words get this kind of treatment. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 23:30, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget per nom. Veverve (talk) 22:40, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, don't retarget, contra the nom and Veverve. A hatnote will suffice anyways, and most uses of "is" and "to be" in running prose are in accordance with the dicdef anyways. Duckmather (talk) 04:12, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget per nom. The goal here is to assess what readers may be looking for if these phrases are linked or searched for in encyclopedic context, and that is an unknown per WP:NOTDICT, so retargeting to the respective disambiguation pages should best serve our readers. Siamese Influenced to Khmer traditional clothing[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Speedy delete per WP:CSD#G3. Thryduulf (talk) 01:36, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect was made by GixxGle in order to move the page Khmer traditional clothing to this one (the user did move the article but it has seen been reverted). This user has repeatedly vandalised the page by deleting contents that are generally subject to heated debates on social media between Khmer and Thai. With this move, he attempted once again to vandalise the page by bringing nationalistic Siamese/Thai discourse onto Wikipedia despite receiving a warning on his user talk, he has since been blocked. The title of the redirect is abusive as it is a blatant attempt to rebrand a whole article on Khmer clothing as Siamese/Thai. Pierrevang3 (talk) 20:47, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: Tagged for speedy deletion under criterion G3 as a redirect left behind from page-move vandalism. CycloneYoris talk! 21:42, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to The Beast#Other uses. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 00:25, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget to disambiguation page section The Beast § Other uses. The redirect name is WP:INCOMPLETEDAB. The Presidential state car (United States) is also referred to as "The Beast". There is also an Aero-engined car called "The Beast of Turin". — BarrelProof (talk) 13:55, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, CycloneYoris talk! 20:39, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to The Beast#Other uses (the relevant section of the disambiguation page). The presidential car is only slightly more prominent in search results than the Rolls Royce-engined vehicle, with a rough 60%-40% split on the first two pages. Especially when there is an existing, broader dab page to target, that's not enough for a primary topic. Thryduulf (talk) 01:43, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to The Beast#Other uses since they are already both in there --Lenticel (talk) 00:50, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not used, self-redundant and misspelt - not a credible redirect. Colonies Chris (talk) 12:08, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Permission error[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.

The title "Bad title" is salted to prevent creation, and it's the title of any error page when a user tries to visit something like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%7C. This title, Permission error, is the error title when the user tries to create a page where they don't have permission to create it, or the user is blocked from editing. Before the redirect was created, earlier page history shows that the page was made to mimic an error page/block notice then got nominated for speedy deletion. Only one particular "permission error" I can see listed on the page is "Access denied", another one not listed on the page is HTTP 403 Forbidden. Should this redirect still be kept seeing as that, like Bad title, is the title of an error page on this wiki? 1033Forest (talk) 15:11, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete The technical reasons given above are not convincing. What's more important here is general RfD principles, which say that this specific term is not discussed with sufficient substance at the target to warrant a redirect. * Pppery * it has begun... 15:49, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was disambiguate. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 00:26, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current target is no longer the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC since the introduction of the SC-44 diesel locomotive (a version of the Siemens Charger) on various passenger railroads in the US. I would either change the target of the redirect to the article about the locomotive or turn the page into a disambiguation page. Andumé (talk) 06:15, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch on the locomotive. I converted the redirect into a disambiguation page. Now Wikipedia users can more easily find whichever meaning they are searching for.Mdnavman (talk) 15:42, 1 January 2024 (UTC)mdnavman[reply]

This redirect feels too vague to be useful. Yes, SFSU has a College of Liberal & Creative Arts, but so do others universities. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 01:44, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I intended to create a page for SFSU's College of Liberal & Creative Arts. The page I created was titled "College of Liberal & Creative Arts" and I was trying to rename it to "SFSU College of Liberal & Creative Arts." Mariwlqs (talk) 01:47, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
