This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on November 24, 2023.

Foreign Secretaries[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Foreign Secretary. Jay 💬 06:30, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Foreign_Secretary or Foreign_Secretary#List_of_foreign_secretaries seems like a more logical target. Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 21:55, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

Maple leafs[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Toronto Maple Leafs. Jay 💬 06:44, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The plural form of "leaf" is "leaves", not "leafs". However, there is a hockey team (the Toronto Maple Leafs) that the redirect Maple Leafs points to. I think it's more likely that a user searching for this term would expect to find the hockey team while forgetting to capitalize the term "leafs" than it would be that they forget the plural of "leaf", add an "s" on to the end and seek to find the leaf. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 19:53, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak retarget to Toronto Maple Leafs – I'm not entirely convinced that the Leafs are the primary topic for this term, but the spelling is fairly unusual. On the other hand, it's a plausible grammar mistake to make, especially if you're learning English (world-renowned for its straightforward grammar and intuitive spelling). The second hatnote at Toronto Maple Leafs covers that fine, though.
On the other hand, maybe targeting to Maple leaf (disambiguation) is best, as it represents a compromise between the current target and the proposed one.
:Ultimately, we have to guess what people searching "Maple leafs" in the Wikipedia search engine want, and, as we aren't telepathic,[citation needed] we may as well flip a coin. I think the hockey team is the best target, given the hatnote, but not by a wide margin. Edward-Woodrow (talk) 21:05, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget per nom. Searching google (which is case insensitive) for "Maple leafs" every hit on the first three pages is related to the hockey team. Adjusting the search term to exclude "Toronto" all but 2 hits on the first three pages were clearly related to the hockey team (one was selling paper maple leaves for craft projects, one refused to display anything to someone in the UK). All-but about 5 on the first three pages were related to the hockey team when both "Toronto" and "hockey" were excluded from the search term. This very strongly indicates that the hockey team is the primary topic. Thryduulf (talk) 00:49, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • REtarget to Maple leaf (disambiguation), many people misspell the plural, and the disambiguation page lists all uses, including several Leafs and that which might be pluralized that way. -- 65.92.247.90 (talk) 00:36, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: Retarget to Toronto Maple Leafs? Or to Maple leaf (disambiguation)?
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, CycloneYoris talk! 23:36, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Toronto Maple Leafs. Due to (1) the primacy of the sports team over any other use of "maple leaf" in terms of raw viewers, and (2) the fact there is an existing hatnote at that article pointing to Maple leaf (disambiguation) anyway, I'm fine with this solution. It's my impression that a lot of readers search lowercase. J947edits 04:08, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget either to DAB or Toronto Maple Leafs. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:49, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I regret nothing[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was no consensus. There have been no comments at all since the previous relist, and the discussion overall has been listed for more than a month; another relist won't help. Normally in cases with no consensus and no arguments supporting the current target, the default is to soft delete the page. However, anyone is allowed to refund a soft-deleted page or replace the title with something else, and since a disambiguation page has already been drafted, I'm going to leave it in place. Editorial discussion about the disambiguation should proceed on its talk page. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 18:58, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at target page, nor in references. I would typically have no idea why this redirect exists, but the edit summary states: "'I regret nothing' is what the Dude says before killing himself in EVERY game"

That being said, looking up the phrase on google gives many different results, not often associated with this franchise, so it may be WP:SURPRISEing to anyone that searches this. Utopes (talk / cont) 22:55, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I should clarify that there are dozens of videos of the Postal dude saying this phrase before killing himself, and that the phrase is even included in the Postal movie, I can’t link the videos but you can look them up on YouTube. Second of all, it is strongly associated with the series considering Postal 4’s title references the phrase more or less (and intentionally misspells it)-SignedInteger (talk) 02:47, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete not mentioned at the target and I don't think it's particularly primary for this search term (I was expecting the target to be Non, je ne regrette rien). Hut 8.5 08:05, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm also happy with the disambiguation page suggested below. I wouldn't strongly object to retargeting to Non, je ne regrette rien as it is much better known than the other options, but since it's in the wrong language, is missing part of the phrase and is only one possible translation I'm not sure it's the primary search term. • Delete or Disambiguate: When I Google this term, the first two sites that come up are from TV Tropes and Know Your Meme, neither of which mention the Postal franchise. Urban Dictionary traces the phrase back to The Simpsons. TV Tropes describes it as a "Stock Phrase used by characters about to or after having done some crazy action, especially if it could result in dying." As such, I think it's irresponsible to redirect to a specific franchise. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 18:00, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Drafted a disambig page at the redirect. Did not add the Omnibus episode as the mention is in a list article, and not Omnibus, hence too minor. Jay 💬 03:15, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure of the common outcomes at RFD discussions about misspellings in Redirect page titles but this is a bad one. Plus, we already have Radical Party of Great Britain as a correctly spelled Redirect page. Liz Read! Talk! 21:24, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is much too generic a title to redirect to a page about the politics of a single country, let alone one which doesn't discuss the current political issues in the country. There is coverage of current political issues of some countries, e.g. Political issues in India, Political issues in Spain, etc, but I've not found an index to them and I'm not sure this the best title to create one at. Thryduulf (talk) 14:47, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: absolutely should not target an individual countries' politics page, and the title is a little to vague to properly disambiguate. Edward-Woodrow (talk) 15:08, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Was at first created as an article about a Naxos album. Now it redirects to Magnificat (Bach), which doesn't make sense as the redirect title also refers to BWV 82. The album itself doesn't appear to be notable per WP:NMUSIC. —*Fehufangą (✉ Talk · ✎ Contribs) 11:19, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This was created without discussion and used in breach of MOS standard for page titles. It serves no useful purpose and should be removed. Batagur baska (talk) 10:39, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per J947. Batagur baska, redirects like this generally do serve a purpose... for people who don't know how to title things correctly as per the MOS. Edward-Woodrow (talk) 15:10, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per J947, Thryduulf, and Edward. This capitalization doesn't hurt things, and it's potentially helpful. Regards, SONIC678 15:46, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This should redirect to Gaza–Israel conflict, because the 2023 war is not the first one, see Gaza War (2008–2009) and 2014 Gaza War. Triggerhippie4 (talk) 00:15, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep and add a hatnote if needed. The ongoing conflict is the clear primary topic. Thryduulf (talk) 09:46, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Thryduulf (though best to return here in ~a year). If the reader is searching up "Israel–Hamas war" today, it is very clear that they are looking for the ongoing conflict. J947edits 10:12, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per above. Edward-Woodrow (talk) 14:58, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per above. Parham wiki (talk) 17:21, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Let's be real, everyone searching that term is looking for the current war. Besides, the current Gaza conflict is way more intensive than the previous two ones. SouthParkFan2006 (talk) 18:07, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Make disambiguation page to the more notable wars/battles/conflicts. While this may be the one that most readers are interested in now, in a year it may switch. That, and there's always a good chance they're not looking for the current war. - AquilaFasciata (talk | contribs) 19:36, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If the primary topic changes in the future we can (and should) retarget the redirect then. A hatnote to Gaza–Israel conflict will be fine for those people looking for other topics. Thryduulf (talk) 20:37, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
