Delete in the spirit of WP:UFILM. Subject was released almost 4 months ago, page views are virtually nonexistent. Steel1943 (talk) 20:27, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom --Lenticel (talk) 00:27, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. It appears the redirect got exactly 0 views between late April and this nomination so it is unambiguously no longer required. Thryduulf (talk) 03:34, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom, Lenticel, and Thryduulf. Why would it still be "upcoming" if it's already been released, and the redirect has essentially zero pageviews? Regards, SONIC678 07:35, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In answer to your first question, what happens is the article is created at a title with "upcoming" before the subject has a (confirmed) release date and is moved when release is confirmed/happens. Because not everybody finds out about this immediately and it takes a while for links to be updated, etc. we leave the redirect in place while people are still using it so they can find the content they are looking for. How long that takes varies, with some being abandoned after only a couple of days and others retaining utility for many months (although most are between these extremes). Thryduulf (talk) 10:35, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per above as an 'upcoming'-type redirect which has stopped getting pageviews. InterstellarGamer12321 (talk | contribs) 18:19, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

OTCA[edit]

The result of the discussion was Keep * Pppery * it has begun... 20:53, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This abbreviation is completely in reverse. No reason I can find for this construction this way. Searching it on Google gave no results for this acronym, besides "ACTO" and a number of local results for me that also went by OTCA. Utopes (talk / cont) 08:51, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Comment I'm fine with wrapping this up as kept then, as this is a valid case based on this finding. Although, now I'm leaning towards hat-noting or disambiguation, because there's also Over-the-counter analgesics and Ohio High School Athletic Association (Ohio Tennis Coaches Association, but Oklahoma also has one), as well as some other possibilities. My results are mainly local, some of which do have mentions on WP, but aren't as substantial. Utopes (talk / cont) 19:01, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

  • Disambiguate I have also encountered the abbreviation OTCA for Life-like cellular automaton. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 03:05, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I attempted a dab draft at the redirect to get this discussion moving, but not with the examples from this discussion, as I didn't find any of them as valid entries. No opinion on a primary topic, hence this may be a hatnoted as well. Jay 💬 17:10, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I prefer a hatnote, as my searches still fail to find nothing encyclopaedic other than the current target when searching only for the acronym strongly indicating it is the primary topic. Thryduulf (talk) 21:27, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as is. In my opinion, the other uses are too minor for even a hatnote. -- Tavix (talk) 23:08, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Thryduulf and Tavix. While other uses of this abbreviation do exist, it seems like a reach even to warrant a hatnote for any of them, and this is clearly the common abbreviation for this organisation in the languages of most of the nations that actually compose it. I have added a Portuguese translation to the intro to more clearly illustrate the use of "OTCA". ~ mazca talk 16:13, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. Jay 💬 17:57, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like an entirely made up WP:NEO. While it probably garners some usage as a substitute for "teens" of 10-19 (right below "twenties"), in my mind it couldn't possibly be only referring to the 2010s. Utopes (talk / cont) 09:12, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Contrary to the nominator's speculation, this is used not too infrequently and, in almost all cases, refers to the 2010s. There are occasional uses for the 1910s, which will be best served by a hatnote, and even fewer random uses (such as a non-notable tent manufacturer/retailer/enthusiast group, I can't work out quite what). Thryduulf (talk) 12:03, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It definitely gets used a lot especially in British English, on about the same level as Noughties And I'm not sure what else it could refer to - tents perhaps? The 1910s get referred to by names such as the "First World War decade". The terms Nineties and Twenties each refer to both the 1890s and 1990s and the 1920s and 2020s. There are plenty of older sources using terms such as fifities, sixties, seventies and eighties to refer to the relevant decades of the1800s.Romomusicfan (talk) 16:16, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate for the 1910s, 2010s, and whatever else uses it -- 65.92.247.90 (talk) 06:29, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
... if anyone uses it for 1910s or 1810s or whatever. It definitely gets used for 2010s. Utopes (talk / cont) appears to contend that it is not used at all! As the original poster of the redirect I am disqualified from a counted vote on this but am free to comment. Naturally I stand by that it overwhelmingly refers to the 2010s. There are by all means other decade labels that are actively used at present for more than one decade - the Twenties meaning both now and the "Roaring Twenties", the Nineties still evoking both the 1990s and the Naughty Nineties. The Noughties and Tenties refer exclusively to the first two decades of the 2000s (century), the equivalent decades of the 1900s (century) largely being called other names relating to the British monarch or the World War that predominated each decade. Romomusicfan (talk) 09:26, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My earlier research showed that the clear primary topic is the 2010s, a hatnote will be sufficient for any uses of other decades (1910s was the only one I found, but they were very occasional relative to 2010s). Thryduulf (talk) 11:07, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Not common, but as there are a few refs, I've added a couple and included it in the lead and created a Nicknames section. I'm not sure there's any clear consensus about any of the names, but it doesn't do any harm to keep it there, and I can't see any other usage for the term, without digging much deeper at least. The result of the discussion was retarget to King Faisal. Jay 💬 17:41, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Faisal of Saudi Arabia is not the only King Faisal to have had things named after him. In fact, there is a Wikipedia section on things named after King Faisal II of Iraq. Silcox (talk) 06:53, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disambig. There is no primary topic for King Faisal so there is exceedingly unlikely to be for this title, we have at least two articles this could refer to so disambiguation seems best. Thryduulf (talk) 12:15, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to King Faisal. There's no need for a separate disambiguation page. The nom's section has only oone, non-notable, entry. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 20:44, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A logo variation used for this film changes the 20th Century Fox logo to 26th Century Fox to indicate the setting of the film, but this is not mentioned at the target article and is not plot related at all. I am RedoStone (talk) 14:44, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. This is far from the only time variations of this sort of have been done (I've seen it at least twice, and I haven't seen this film. I want to say Futurama did it, but that's a guess). If we have any content discussing variations of the logo then this would make a good redirect to it, but I haven't found anything relevant. Thryduulf (talk) 23:03, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This does not always mean "historical fiction". I think this should just be deleted as vague, but if not, it ought to be disambiguated. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 04:46, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. The current target is definitely wrong, but I'm not sure what would be better. My first thought was possibly backstory but that feels incomplete. Origin story also exists, but that's a subtopic of backstory so definitely too specific. Thryduulf (talk) 05:37, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
