Wouldn't this refer to Confederate States Army or Confederate States of America as more specific targets? Not sure which one is best target. Hog Farm _Bacon 19:35, 20 July 2020 (UTC)

• There was a Confederate States Navy and Confederate States Marine Corps so I would oppose retargetting to the army's article. There is a Category:Military history of the Confederate States of America which has Military forces of the Confederate States as the apparent top-level article, but that's primarily about the structure and organisation rather than a history so I'm not sure it's best. Given that the Confederacy existed only during the civil war, the civil war is its entire military history, so I'm leaning keep but I'll ping the MilHist project for input. • Keep The nomination has no rationale and seems undecided about what it wants to do. Johnnie Cradock is a famous personality in the UK who wrote for many years in the Daily Telegraph, which is a famous newspaper. This was their nom-de-plume, as the article says, and so it's a valid redirect. Andrew🐉(talk) 10:20, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
• Retarget The column was written jointly by Johnnie Craddock and Fanny Craddock so WP:XY is in play. It's also used as a descriptive term for a great many people. List of pseudo-French words adapted to English is the most helpful target I've found on Wikipedia and a link could easily be added there to the Craddocks. Thryduulf (talk) 11:32, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
• Soft retarget per nom. See e.g. this definition in Collins Dictionary, this one in Macmillan Dictionary, this one in Merriam-Webster, and this one in Lexico. The fact that Johnnie Cradock used it as a non-de-plume doesn't give him exclusive rights over a commonplace French expression; anymore than the noms-de-plume "corno di bassetto" and "Cassandra" gave George Bernard Shaw and William Connor rights over those names.

Johnnie may be best known in UK for his closing words in one of his wife's live TV cookery programmes, "And I hope all your doughnuts turn out like Fanny's". This may be even funnier in British English than in American. Narky Blert (talk) 11:37, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

• Don't retarget to Ramen This character is "U+1F35C STEAMING BOWL" so "bowl" is a bit broader than the meaning but "Ramen" is very significantly narrower and so will be misleading or incorrect in at least some cases - depictions vary between systems, can be ambiguous and can change over time so we should not pay much attention to that. • Retarget to Miscellaneous Symbols and Pictographs, the article on the Unicode block, which at least tells the user the name of this character if they mouse-over it in the table.   • The problem with redirecting to Miscellaneous Symbols and Pictographs is that in that article, clicking on each character will take you to the redirected page.     • Characters that are unlikely to get a useful encyclopedic description in any other article really shouldn't be linked like that from articles in the first place; they should either be unlinked, or linked to Wiktionary as is done at e.g. CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B. I had no idea that Wiktionary had entries for emojis, but this seems like the most informative target; it tells the reader much more than Miscellaneous Symbols and Pictographs does. • Keep: A Google search shows a fair number of sources using "Battle of Jamrod". Jamrod seems to be an alternate transliteration of the Urdu جمرود. Jamrūd is also common. I image the vowel does not have an exact Latin equivalent. Aymatth2 (talk) 16:02, 20 July 2020 (UTC)

The current target of this redirect provides no information about what "DFTT" means. "DFTT" is mentioned at New Zealand Air Training Corps, where it says that "DFTT" stands for "Dry Firing Training Test", and in Wiktionary at wikt:DFTT, which claims that it is an initialism of "don't feed the troll". So should this redirect be retargetted to New Zealand Air Training Corps or soft redirected to wikt:DFTT? Not a very active user (talk) 08:15, 20 July 2020 (UTC)

• Given we have WP:DFTT with almost a thousand links, I think it's useful to be able to look up what DFTT means and have a reasonable/easy way to find that meaning. Soft-redirect to wikt sounds reasonable. DMacks (talk) 09:14, 20 July 2020 (UTC)

Doesn't seem to be mentioned in the target article. I've read this comic strip, and I honestly have no memory whatsoever of what this is supposed to be. The only mention of this on enwiki is at Milo (musician) in the sentence "In June 2014, Ferreira moved with his friends Nedarb Nagrom and Safari Al to Los Angeles to be with his label and collective Hellfyre club". Though I'm listed as the creator, there's some deleted history. This redirect dates back to July 2008, originally as a redirect to Scrabble, and was retargeted to Calvin and Hobbes in December 2009; though that is an especially hilarious strip (I think it's technically in 2 panels from that day, but I digress), neither article has ever contained it. In January 2018 it was improperly deleted per R3, but when I recreated it I didn't bother undeleting since 2 of the 5 deleted revisions were low-level vandalism.
