Relisting comment: All but the first four of the redirects in the "Added by LaundryPizza03 (talk · contribs)" section were all tagged with the wrong date, which causes links from those redirects to forward to the wrong day's subpage. Errors in {{R from sort name}}. Not in accord with the purpose of sort names, since their purpose is for print and these are unprintworthy. See Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2019 July 9#Rodham,Hillary. — the Man in Question (in question) 21:12, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep all except Michael Jordan, as the missing space after the comma is implausible. These are harmless and absolutely unambiguous; there's no benefit to deletion; this is definitely not a sort error. Plus, what kind of redirect that's meant for print is unprintworthy? Trump Donald had 82 hits in the last few months, including ten in one day; that's 82 people whose requests would have been complicated by this deletion. It's distinctly not implausible that someone would simply leave off a comma. Nyttend (talk) 21:54, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    Playing devil's advocate, Jordan's gets more page views than Alighieri's, but that one is not "plausible"? Seems we needs a different criteria than views, hence, I !voted delete all below.—Bagumba (talk) 10:27, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree. Not good for business to make an issue. Charles Matthews (talk) 06:42, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all All of the above have the equivalent "<last name>, <first name>" redirect now (I went and created Dalí, Salvador). If the above are deleted, they won't show up in autocomplete search suggestions, and readers will select the remaining "correct" entry. For the few that still press return, they will learn and adjust. Expecting a comma or selection of a valid suggestion is not rocket science. There's all sorts of other WP:BEANS redirect examples that if we allowed them to be created, someone would select them and they would get traffic. WP:IAR, and let's not go there.—Bagumba (talk) 10:27, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    Interesting. I was discussing recently with a friend whether he had a name for the anti-pattern, where someone argues in terms suggesting it is possible to know how people search/should search. He said, no, he didn't know what it is called, but it is very common. And here it is. Given that WP:RPURPOSE starts with 20 bullets, I don't think the WP:BEANS reference appropriate. We know that there are more redirects than articles, they are not resource-intensive, and discussions about those that can serve a purpose is a time-sink. Look, why do you take as a premise that people search using the box? I'm just as likely to use a Google custom search. Charles Matthews (talk) 20:59, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    People that use Google are not affected by Wikipedia's redirects. BEANS was in reference to all sorts of typos that could be churned out, such as this missing space after comma one. It was not alluding to guideline RPURPOSE. They can and do co-exist, just not always in black and white terms.—Bagumba (talk) 01:26, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    Framing this as a trade-off, it seems to be common ground that some traffic to articles would be lost, and what is to be weighed against that is simply some untidiness. I know where I stand on that one. Charles Matthews (talk) 17:46, 21 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep all. A couple of these have been discussed before, which I have listed in the {{old rfd list}}. I'll defer to my arguments at both discussions, but especially Beckham David because I went into quite a bit of detail there. -- Tavix (talk) 20:24, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep all per Tavix. The argument that people who use Google are unaffected by Wikipedia redirects is just plain false - google indexes redirects and uses them to asist with provding search results. Thryduulf (talk) 09:31, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

An article has recently been created about this person at Deepak Singhal (banker). This redirect could be updated to take the reader to the new article. However I think that the two titles are too similar, and it would be better to delete the redirect entirely. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 09:06, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm quite confused, Steel1943 has moved this to Deepak Singhal, RBI which seems to be against the MOS naming but also now suppressed the redirect, so I'm all kinds of confused. It seems highly unlikely someone is going to be searching for this term and would encourage it to be moved back while this RFD takes place at the very least as well as consider just redirecting the article requested here as it's all WP:MILL and just restore both to direct to Reserve Bank of India. Praxidicae (talk) 14:09, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Praxidicae: See here. The nominator literally created the page they proposed for deletion. If anyone wishes to nominate Deepak Singhal, RBI for deletion, they are free to do so. Also, note that in my redirect suppression, the history contains the phrase "over a redirect"; the nominator moved the redirect Deepak Singhal, RBI to Deepak Singhal (Reserve Bank of India), resulting in two redirects, including the former redirecting to the latter, which was never resolved by the editor or a bot since the {{RfD}} tag placed on Deepak Singhal (Reserve Bank of India) technically converted it into a non-redirect. Steel1943 (talk) 15:00, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The move was correct by CSC, the tag should remain despite your moving of the redirect, Steel1943. Please stop wheel warring and revert your last removal. Praxidicae (talk) 15:07, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Praxidicae: Not "wheel-warring", whatever that is (though I have heard that phrase before.) Either way, the tag you restored is still technically on a redirect that has not been nominated or included in a nomination. As I stated on my talk page, give me a few minutes and I think I'll have a resolution good for the parties involved. Steel1943 (talk) 15:09, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Steel1943: For your convenience: WP:WHEEL. –MJLTalk🍰 15:22, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@MJL: Thanks for that link. That's an interesting concept that I could totally see happening, or even how this was construed as so. Steel1943 (talk) 15:26, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Praxidicae: Deepak Singhal (Reserve Bank of India) restored and tagged, and Deepak Singhal, RBI merged into this discussion. Steel1943 (talk) 15:14, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
...And also, swapped the edit histories per what I presume was the nominator's intent, plus the comment regarding proper title disambiguation by Praxidicae. (When I made the previous comments, the {{RfD}} tag was on Deepak Singhal, RBI, but that edit history has now been moved back to Deepak Singhal (Reserve Bank of India).)
