List of socially unusual fictional planets[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. --BDD (talk) 17:33, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This page was boldly redirected in 2009 as an unsourced list with dubious (in this case vague) inclusion criteria. However, there is no evidence of a merge. As an implausible search term for someone looking for the comprehensive list of fictional planets at target, there is no need to keep this. Pinging @Guest9999, who performed the redirect. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 23:36, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete As implausible redirect, and entirely listcruft beforehand.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 00:35, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as not any sort of official term for a type of fictional planet. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:54, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - the target is not structured in any way that would allow someone to find only a list of "socially unusual" fictional planets, even if it was clear what that meant. Thryduulf (talk) 09:38, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - "Socially unusual" is such awkward wording that deletion seems like a pretty easy call. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 09:39, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - What does "socially unusual" even mean? Suggest adding to WP:FREAKY if deleted. Raymond1922 (talk) 03:58, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Considering most fiction is unusual, this redirect is not clear in what it is describing. Steel1943 (talk) 17:08, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Keep. (non-admin closure) Steel1943 (talk) 19:18, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Article was formerly deleted but redirect was recreated. Redirect is confusing however since such a concept also appears in science. Best to let the search function do its job. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 22:09, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. This is not any kind of formal scientific term, and based on Google returns, I think that the fictional sense is the clear primary topic over any real world sense. bd2412 T 23:21, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Actually, it is a formal scientific term. See here, et cetera.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 00:34, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • Somewhat surprising, as we have no article covering this topic from a scientific perspective. The use of the phrase in science seems to be subsumed by the topic of healing. The Wikipedia search function is not helpful with this phrase. Asking it to do its job would be more practical if it actually could be relied on to do the job, rather than spitting out mostly irrelevant things. The reader looking for the fictional sense will not find the relevant article in these search results. bd2412 T 00:52, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - The section 'Healing#Regeneration' appears as if it'd be an appropriate place to discuss future medical breakthroughs in regenerating tissue, but I'm not sure. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 09:41, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • (edit conflict) Keep but add a hatnote to Healing or wherever else the scientific use is covered. Almost all the search results are for fictional characters who have accelerated healing and so wont actually help anyone who is looking for generic information, fictional or otherwise. Thryduulf (talk) 09:43, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep This is a broad concept and so we should expand this into an article which covers the various contexts so as to help direct readers, whether they are looking for Wolverine, platelet-derived growth factor or whatever else. Andrew D. (talk) 20:06, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep, WP:SNOW. While there isn't a hard and fast rule about when pages can be renominated, this one came far too soon. --BDD (talk) 14:03, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

While descriptive redirects can be useful, this one seems pretty innocuous, and can have many meanings, so limiting it to "bananas" does not appear to be the right move. Onel5969 TT me 21:13, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. This was just the subject of an RfD a few weeks ago - Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2018 May 29#Curved yellow fruit. Valid reasons for keeping were provided there. bd2412 T 23:19, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy keep. Keep for the reasons I argued for a keep last time (i.e. evidence of use specifically for bananas), speedy because the last discussion was closed only 3 days ago. It's not likely that anybody's opinions will have changed in such a short time. Thryduulf (talk) 00:12, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as just discussed. Raymond1922 (talk) 04:03, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete – Awkward / specific title that could refer to a whole slew of different things. Master of Time (talk) 22:37, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment, the creator of this redirect provided the following link as an edit summary: https://i.chzbgr.com/full/7085474816/h7DBBE52E/ That is a picture of bananas on sale in (presumably) a supermaket labelled "long yellow things". If this is a genuine photograph then it does increase the likelihood of this redirect having utility. However as the website its hosted on is not the most reliable of sources, it should be investigated further and I'm not presently awake enough to do that. Thryduulf (talk) 00:16, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete more of a neologism / meme, and doesn't carry such a description in news articles as with Curved yellow fruit. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:52, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete further investigation of the photo indicates that although it was a minor meme, it is all based on that one single photo (the earliest dated use I found was 2013 but it's likely older than that given the context was a gallery of "you had one job" fails) - note they are always 0.78/lb with no currency specified, unlike "curved yellow fruit" which gets lots of different uses. If we had an article about You had one job memes I would consider redirecting it there, but we don't. Thryduulf (talk) 09:56, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as overly vague. Raymond1922 (talk) 04:03, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as neologism not repeatedly discussed in news articles. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:58, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Google search results show that when this phrase is used, it refers to all sorts of different things, almost none of which are bananas. Thryduulf (talk) 09:57, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Despite the name, it does not appear that the fruit is consistently blue. bd2412 T 03:59, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This page has been deleted several times (and even has a listing at WP:DAFT, but has never been discussed. I presume an RfD listing should keep it deleted once and for all. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 23:41, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep a harmless joke title. Nothing freaky about it. Not implausible, no WP:SURPRISE. (creator) —usernamekiran(talk) 08:27, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete and salt. Unless this is discussed at the article as an informal name, this is fancruft neologism. Why this precision as opposed to 30 cm ruler? Note also no 3/4 lb. mouse for 12 oz. Mouse Check out this book page that discusses its deletion on Wikipedia [1] AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:19, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

deletion, the redirect could plausibly be expanded into an article, and the target article contains virtually no information on the subject. Pelmeen10 (talk) 19:02, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There is according to French wiki fr:Coupe du monde d'escrime 2017-2018. --Pelmeen10 (talk) 10:15, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
