The result of the discussion was speedy delete. CSD G7 satisfied based on creator's !vote. TheSandDoctor Talk 20:31, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unattested neologism: a web search returns only OCR errors and texts in other languages. – Uanfala (talk) 16:15, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nominator, while this might be a word in Latin it is not one in English. While there are many Latin words and phrases embedded in English contexts, particularly in the legal field, I can find no evidence that this one is and even if it were I would want there to be some mention of it at the target but the only use on this wiki is this redirect and notifications of this RfD discussion. There is no entry at Wiktionary so soft redirection there isn't an option either. Thryduulf (talk) 13:02, 8 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment: Учхљёная's !vote above means that the redirect now falls under G7 (author requests deletion). Any non-involved editor may now speedy close the discussion as delete. — kashmīrī TALK 13:18, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Chūnibyō[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Chunibyo made a stub, so redirect there. I'm doing a little reading between the lines here, but it's clear that everyone would be fine with an actual article (this is, after all, an encyclopedia). Angus has created a stub at Chunibyo, and while no one has opined directly on it, all the !votes, including the deletes, mention that they are opting for a WP:REDLINK as there is no article. As such, redirecting the rest to Chunibyo. ~ Amory (utc) 20:27, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Currently, these redirect to Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, and a hatnote at the top of the redirect target is leading those looking for the so-called disease to go to Glossary of anime and manga, which turns out to have none about it.

Shouldn't there be an entry about Chūnibyō at the English Wikipedia in first place (either as a stand alone article or an entity at Glossary of anime and manga)?

For the record, the Japanese Wikipedia has an article about it, and there's a Wikidata item too. JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 09:13, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @JSH-alive: I can quite work out what you are arguing for. If you think the hatnote is not needed then either be bold and remove it or discuss it on the talk page. If you are arguing that these redirects shouldn't exist because there is no entry in the glossary, then I would argue that's irrelevant as what matters is whether they are useful search terms for the current target. If you think that an entry needs to be added to the glossary, then just go ahead and add it. If you think these redirects should be articles, then just overwrite the redirects with those articles - they don't need deletion first. If you think that the redirects are not good search terms for the current target, then you need to explain why with reference to the current target not to where the hatnotes point. Thryduulf (talk) 11:15, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Thryduulf: My point is, if there's a hatnote at one article guiding readers to another article to read about the actual definition about Chūnibyō, there should be at least a short definition at the another article. Anyway, I'm going to ask folks at the Japanese Wikipedia while I find a suitable reference. JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 12:52, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • That's a valid point, but it's nothing to do with RfD or the redirects so this is the wrong venue. You need to discuss this on the relevant article talk pages. Thryduulf (talk) 12:58, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note I initially closed this with the summary "Wrong venue. Discussion should take place on the talk pages of the article with the hatnote and the article the hatnote links to. Thryduulf (talk) 12:58, 27 June 2018 (UTC)" but Xezbeth has indicated on my talk page that they believe the redirects should be deleted so I have reopened the discussion so they can give their rationale. Thryduulf (talk) 17:41, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. This is a Japanese word/neologism that is not unique to this series, nor is it strictly an anime/manga term so linking to the glossary is of no use. Since there isn't an article then a redlink serves the reader better. —Xezbeth (talk) 17:56, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That depends if the series is what popularized the term as with D'oh! AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:05, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
WP:RS (at least, the ones I can locate on short notice) attribute the popularization (and possibly the invention) of the term to Hikaru Ijūin.[1][2] In other words, it's not closely associated with this particular series. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 03:16, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment There is a Draft:Chūnibyō article that is an attempted translation of the Japanese wikipedia entry, but it was rejected. The current problem is that it is full of original research and not sufficiently sourced to indicate independent notability. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:01, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Either delete per Xezbeth, or soft redirect to wikt:中二病 until the draft is good enough for mainspace. The fact that we can't create a good English-language article about this topic on short notice isn't a reason to leave it redirecting to a WP:PTM target which almost certainly isn't what people are looking for. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 03:16, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • On second thought I think a soft redirect is a bad idea. It would show as a plain old bluelink in other articles, thus depriving editors of the signal that they need to write an article on this topic. Without the soft redirect, searchers will still see an extract from the Wiktionary article plus the various inline definitions of this term in Wikipedia articles. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 04:24, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting comment: There seems to be some appetite for creating an article on the term. There is a draft article, but it would need to be distilled a bit with better sourcing. Anybody up to the task?
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, -- Tavix (talk) 16:11, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. The Japanese term isn't particularly closely associated with this novel. The AfC rejection shows that it's possible that the topic itself isn't ready for the English Wikipedia, but either way we should redlink the title to show that we currently don't have coverage of the topic. Deryck C. 16:55, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Created stub at Chunibyo This at least gets the basic definition and application down. The draft is too complicated and not sourced well enough to bring over yet. No macrons. The others can redirect there. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:44, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Comprehension is already a dab page with understanding as one of the entries. It is unlikely that someone will type "Comprehension (understanding)" but will type "Comprehension" which should point to the Dab page and not this one which will redirect to an entry on the dab page Dom from Paris (talk) 11:23, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Deryck Chan: is a Chinese-speaking RFD regular whose input here is probably going to be useful. Thryduulf (talk) 11:15, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per WP:FORRED: it's the original language title of the book (zh:习近平谈治国理政). Book titles often aren't direct translations but are adapted to what sounds natural in the target language. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 23:04, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. There isn't any significant edit history, so it's not useful from that standpoint either. However, if someone from Wikipedia:WikiProject Tropical cyclones still wants it for any reason, let me know and I'll restore it. -- Tavix (talk) 21:02, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can refer to "07L" in every year, REDIRECT is ambiguous B dash (talk) 08:13, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment this a a subpage of a WikiProject, so ambiguity concerns are significantly less relevant than if it were in mainspace. It seems to have been used as a draft space to create the article now at the target so may no longer be necessary, but that's really for the project concerned to decide. Thryduulf (talk) 09:57, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yeah, doesn't seem useful, was quickly moved to a better draft title. I don't see why the project would want to keep it and there's no use, so I'd say a weak delete. But, as Thryduulf says, it's really their call. ~ Amory (utc) 20:54, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
