A001113[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. --BDD (talk) 16:58, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"A001113" is ambiguous. The current target refers to an irrational number with "A001113" for the OEIS sequence. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 15:12, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete it seems to also pertain to various weird stuff like a baby food processor and an antique book aside from the target number --Lenticel (talk) 01:44, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete per WP:RFD#D2 confusing, WP:XY. A001113 is not E, the mathematical constant, but an infinite integer sequence of digits enumerating the decimal representation of the constant. The target mentions it and links to OEIS, as it does with A003417, which as you see is red. (The links are for oeis:A001113 and oeis:A003417, but being a WP pseudo-namespace these do not appear with the "external link" sign like most external links do, so they look like internal links. {{OEIS2C|A001113}} could be used instead to put in an icon for the OEIS next to the link.)
I can see there's little harm in keeping this, but WP is not an OEIS mirror or index (WP:NOTCATALOG). When I put the red "A003417" into the WP search engine I get List of representations of e as the second result, On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences as the third (where it is given as an example in the lede) and E (mathematical constant) as the fourth; so presumably the same would happen if we deleted this: which is why I say delete it to let the search engine do it.
I doubt anyone searching for this would be expecting an article on a baby food processor or an old book, so those results are irrelevant to this discussion. Si Trew (talk) 02:38, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
PS. We also have A001203 for Pi for example. (Perhaps add that to the nomination?) Si Trew (talk) 02:38, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. See also the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/A001622 of 5 January 2006 (result: deleted), where a couple of editors suggested converting that into a redirect. e and pi seem to be the only OEIS sequences – at least, those starting "A00" – for which we have redirects.
