I went through all of the other articles on the dab for the discussion below and found there was only one other entry with the middle initial M, and that was for Mark. But Steel1943, look at all the incoming links. None from mainspace, sure, but I think that demonstrates that since this was a former title of the article, there could be a lot of links on other sites. Even if the aforementioned Canadian didn't exist, an article on, say, a Malian singer by this name would have to be at "Chris Brown (Malian singer)". This is precisely what {{R from unnecessary disambiguation}} is for. Ignoring external links for a moment, a reader typing in this phrase as a search term might be looking for something else, as you indicated, or they might logically conclude that "Chris Brown" is a very common name and try adding a qualifier to make sure they get what they're looking for. Fair enough, BDD, though my opinion differs in the matter. For one, I don't believe that Wikipedia should cater to outdated external links in cases like this, considering that the link hasn't been broken, but rather requires one extra step to get to the intended target (clicking on Chris Brown from the disambiguation page.) But mainly, I just don't believe that any redirect designated a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT should have a disambiguator as part of its title due to possibly being misleading. Granted, I know there are cases that go against my belief (ex. Thriller (album)), but I don't agree with those either. Also, in the case of the nominated redirect, I don't believe that {{R from unnecessary disambiguation}} would be inappropriate even if this redirect targeted Chris Brown since the redirect with the disambiguator is a match for a disambiguator of subjects of other articles. @BDD: The best example I could find that relates to this discussion would probably be The Eagles. It turns out that WP:PDAB is a bit lacking on explaining the precedence for the retarget option you are supporting in this discussion. The concern about redirecting redirects with ambiguous disambiguators to titles with more precise disambiguators as a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT was previously discussed at Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation, but it doesn't seem that consensus was ever formed. I don't think it's an accident that you see redirects like this one or that one, but not ones like, say, Barack Obama (politician) or Dick Butkus (American football). A reader doesn't have to be around very long to learn that we often disambiguate titles. They might well expect even famous figures to have them for common names—I went to school with a Chris Brown, for example—but not more unique ones. This past November, this redirect had 275 views, and the Michael Jackson one had 401. This is an old joke from Last Week Tonight, where John Oliver pointed out that Dabo Swinney is an anagram of "soybean wind" so he could say that Swinney "seems about as pleasant as an edamame fart." Delete - these were created as cross-namespace redirects to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism but were retargeted to an article that doesn't mention these. They may have been intended with the project namespace prefix but I can see nothing similar there and this isn't a common name for AIV or something that clearly refers to it. The closest I can find in project namespace are the WP:ALERTS shortcut to Wikipedia:Article alerts, and Wikipedia:Vandalism (Current alerts) which redirects to the historical page Wikipedia:Requests for investigation).
