Faery tale[edit]

The result of the discussion was redirect. --BDD (talk) 18:23, 5 February 2013 (UTC) (non-admin closure)[reply]

This redirect redirects to The Faery Tale Adventure, which I think is too specific. I think it should redirect to fairy tale instead, as the only difference is the spelling between "faery" and "fairy", which seem alternative forms of each other. There aren't even any incoming links to faery tale, so the change should be safe to make. JIP | Talk 06:29, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget to fairy tale per nom since faery and fairy are indeed synonyms. Of course, a hatnote at the article won't hurt.--Lenticel (talk) 02:30, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was speedily moved to Wikipedia:Manual of Style (punctuation) (without leaving a redirect) as per the creator's original plan. BencherliteTalk 20:25, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate and unused redirect from article space to WP space. Dicklyon (talk) 05:58, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete wholly inappropriate. Legoktm (talk) 09:24, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy delete. I am the page page creator; this is definitely inappropriate. I obviously forgot to add the Wikipedia: namespace. Lmatt (talk) 20:03, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Grand slam (disambiguation)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. BDD (talk) 18:26, 5 February 2013 (UTC) (non-admin closure)[reply]

delete because the only inward link is from one User page; there is no Talk; history is useful only if one arrives here by unlikely typo error, recovery from which Search will otherwise handle effectively — (In contrast Grand Slam (disambiguation) redirects to the same target, has many inward links, has Talk redirected to the common target, and is cross-referenced at Slam.) --P64 (talk) 00:43, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep I don't see a typo, where's the typo? WP:CHEAP , nomination doesn't seem to offer a reason for deletion, as "unused" isn't a reason for deletion of redirects. -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 02:24, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. The "typo" would appear to be that "slam" is not capitalised, which is not a reason to delete. We routinely keep Redirects from other capitalisations because they assist people using case sensitive search methods (of which there are several) and accidental linking. Thryduulf (talk) 10:27, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. The "typo" is to spell out "(disambiguation)". Why will anyone search for that? Thanks to someone who added {{R from disambiguation}} to the nominated page. Its helpful in this way and that --although I don't understand why such redirects are more than clutter when the current disambiguation page (Grand Slam) and its redirects of another type (Grand slam, grandslam, etc) are the targets of all actual links. In other words I have supposed that we delete either Grand Slam (disambiguation) or Grand slam (disambiguation) when it is not used. --P64 (talk) 19:52, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • Firstly, see WP:INTDABLINK for one reason why we have "(disambiguation)" redirects. Also, people search for pages with "(disambiguation)" in the title when they are looking for a topic they don't think will be the primary topic but are not sure what the article will be titled. I did this earlier today with Id (disambiguation) - I expected Identity document or similar to be the primary topic, while I was looking for the Freudian usage, which turns out to be at Id, ego and super-ego. Thryduulf (talk) 23:44, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep: no reason to delete. Might be looked for. Plausible title for a newly-created duplicating dab page, if the redirect didn't exist. PamD 13:53, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per WP:INTDABLINK, which mandates the existence of these redirects. You never know when someone will need to make an intentional link to a disambig page, and not everyone has the ability to create such links on the fly. bd2412 T 04:21, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
