The result of the discussion was retarget to DFC. (NAC) Armbrust The Homunculus 07:16, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget to DFC. There is more than one abbreviation to which D.F.C. applies. bd2412 T 22:36, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

  • Support No evidence that D.F.C. usually means Distinguished Flying Cross, googling shows that its all over the place. Beerest 2 talk 01:39, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support This would never have been my first thought for the abbreviation. The retargetting makes sense. TonyBallioni (talk) 02:31, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to DFC - as no clear prime target. The Whispering Wind (talk) 19:01, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget per nom. John Vandenberg (chat) 12:15, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Minister of Ports and Highways[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Converted to disambiguation page by John Vandenberg. Closing as nominator (non-admin closure) TonyBallioni (talk) 04:48, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I moved the original article of this name to Minister of Ports and Highways (Sri Lanka) because there were similarly named positions and titles with articles. I think having the redirect go to the Sri Lankan article could cause confusion when a search would turn up more results that a user might be looking for. TonyBallioni (talk) 18:49, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep or disambiguate. We don't do preemptive disambiguation, so unless there are existing articles which could take this name then it should be at the plain title. If other articles already exist then the plain title should be a disambiguation page - deleting it will not help people find the articles they are looking for as search results are not always shown (it depends how you arrive on the page) and cannot be guaranteed relevant or consistent. Thryduulf (talk) 11:21, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Question TonyBallioni, you mentioned that you saw "there were similarly named positions and titles with articles". Which articles are you referring to? I couldnt find any other "Minister of Ports and Highways" in google, and there is no articles for Minister of Ports or Minister of Highways (I find it unlikely that those portfolios dont exist somewhere). John Vandenberg (chat) 12:23, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I was referring to Minister of Highways, Ports and Properties (Isle of Man) (which is a redirect to their Department of Infrastructure) and Department of Highways and Minor Ports (Tamil Nadu) both of which are similarly enough named to cause confusion. Also, since I originally moved the article, someone has redirected it to Minister of Highways, Ports & Shipping, which means that this is a double redirect, and I'm not sure the best way to resolve it. TonyBallioni (talk) 18:38, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I have converted Minister of Ports and Highways to a dab page. John Vandenberg (chat) 23:18, 27 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

David Zhvania[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Seems to be a typical WP:REDLINK case. --BDD (talk) 22:46, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Procedural nomination. Was misnominated at WP:AFD by Lvivske (talk) with the following reason given:

should have a WP BIO or redlink until that time, not a redirect to the party he's in

I have no particular opinion on this. Sideways713 (talk) 17:11, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My argument is that he should have his own bio. Should the redirect page be deleted first in order to do this? Or can that be done without screwing things up? --Львівське (говорити) 17:13, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The redirect need not be deleted first. If you have the reliable sources needed, just go ahead and articlify this. Sideways713 (talk) 17:27, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I created this redirect because this way at least some info about Zhvania would be made available for (example) readers of First Tymoshenko Government (Zhvania was Minister of Emergencies in it). I would prefer a real article about the man too... But currently do not intend to put any effort in doing that (and I never did had that intend).... (he is not that important enough in Ukraine in my perception). I would prefer to keep this redirect until somebody creates an article about him... — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 18:25, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete he meets the standards for an article under WP:POLITICIAN, and while I agree he might not be the most important person in the history of Ukraine, I think it would be better to have a redlink to let people know that an article does not exist and needs to be created, rather than linking to the party he was in. The result of the discussion was speedily deleted by Malik Shabazz (talk) per CSD A7. (Non-admin closure). Sideways713 (talk) 10:52, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There is no evidence Buddy Holly was ever a DJ. Author created several of these redirects, another user is deleting CSD. Falls under WP:Hoax ☾Loriendrew☽ (talk) 03:51, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget. History maintenance as described below will be carried out. --BDD (talk) 22:40, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Change from Peace Action#History to Sane, which is a redirect page for topics named "Sane," "SANE," and the like. Move Talk:SANE/Old history to Talk:Peace Action/Old SANE history and link to it at the top of Talk:Peace Action. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 00:46, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
