Zhirinovsky's ass[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Keep - the key question is whether this is a plausible search term which it conceivably is. Pejorative interpretations are dealt with at WP:RNEUTRAL. The clear consensus from the discussion is to keep. TerriersFan (talk) 12:47, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This REDIRECT serves nothing but to disparage the subject (Zhirinovsky) in this DYK. The redirect target is actually an article about a video made by a politician. In order to avoid this blatant deformation of a living person this redirect should e deleted. Mootros (talk) 07:52, 29 March 2012 (UTC) Mootros (talk) 07:52, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support it would be inconsistent and encourage new misbehaviour on Talk pages to leave it. The downside is that a whole swathe of existing misbehaviour and stupidity will be left redlinked, but anyone wanting to follow old DYK and RM talk can easily work it out. Unless there is a 100% cast iron WP rule saying BLP violation REDIRECTS must stay as a legacy to a BLP violation then delete. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:15, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. I supported moving the article, but I feel that Zhirinovsky's ass is a plausible search term and, as a redirect, doesn't violate BLP. Jenks24 (talk) 08:53, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep A plausible redirect. See Ass (animal); a common English term for a donkey. See also WP:NOTCENSORED. --GoPTCN 11:25, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Zhirinovsky's donkey redirects there, so why shouldn't this? It is a synonym for donkey. 70.24.244.198 (talk) 12:57, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - the redirect exists merely for a puerile joke at the expense of a politician that many mock. Most who come across this article will not have searched for it, but will have clicked on a direct link, so the redirect (and that for Zhirinovsky's Donkey too) is unlikely to serve any purpose. It exists to mock (which is why the main editors are desperate to keep it until April 1st). Malick78 (talk) 20:22, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Attempts to delete it make no sense given that we have articles (not redirects) like African wild ass, that such is the English language where ass means donkey, that the word "ass" was also used in the media, and that Wikipedia is not censored. GreyHood Talk 00:07, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep The redirect is not actually needed for the DYK hook, as the pun would work without it. Having said that, I think it is a plausible for searching.--kelapstick(bainuu) 00:37, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as plausible synonym.--Lenticel (talk) 01:17, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - keeping the redirect so we can have an April Fool's joke is just silly. The only thing more asinine is denying people the right to make fun of politicians - even Zhirinovsky, who exists solely for this purpose - out of some moralistic crusade about "disparaging people". Give us a break! Wnt (talk) 14:43, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as a plausible search term and to maintain the attribution history following the page move. Please also see WP:RNEUTRAL. Thryduulf (talk) 17:29, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Not a plausible search term. (And not used in English-language media.) JN466 14:11, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Interstate 370 (Missouri)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Keep. Ruslik_Zero 17:57, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect should be deleted as MO 370 was never I-370 and is not fomally planned to become I-370. Dough4872 01:34, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep and explain the inaccuracy in the target article. Even if it is incorrect, it gets a lot of use so clearly lots of people think it is an Interstate. This means that it's a likely search term, and so we should direct those people to the correct article and educate them that it isn't an Interstate. Additionally, having the redirect will discourage good-faith recreations that duplicate the target article and/or present incorrect information. Thryduulf (talk) 17:33, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
