Skanderbeg's Italian expedition[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retargeted to Skanderbeg by nominator. Bridgeplayer (talk) 20:32, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please delete the redirect page Skanderbeg's Italian expedition. It is incorrectly pointing to the Albanian–Venetian War (1447–1448), but they are two different wars, the Skanderbeg's Italian Expedition occurred in Italy in 1462 (and an article on it has not been written yet), whereas the Albanian-Venetian War occurred in Albania in 1447, 15 years earlier. An unexperienced user made the redirect [1] Also the Albanian writer of these articles User:Gaius Claudius Nero, has expressed request to delete the page [2]. I expect him to write Skanderbeg's Italian Expedition in the future, probably under a different title. Sulmues Let's talk 03:03, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Skanderbeg. This expedition is mentioned by name at the section 'List of Skanderbeg's battles and campaigns' and there is other relevant information in the article. This can be converted to a disambiguation page, in due course, if desired. The stats show that this is a plausible search term. Since there is relevant information at the retarget, I see no reason to delete. Bridgeplayer (talk) 15:53, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Skanderbeg: Actually, retargeting to Skanderbeg until an article exists is not a bad idea. Thank you! Did it myself. You can close this RfD. --Sulmues Let's talk 20:05, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nikki Nicole[edit]

The result of the discussion was speedy delete by User:Mufka as a blatant hoax. Non-admin close. —  Glenfarclas  (talk) 01:54, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect should be speedily deleted. Previously proposed the Nikki Nicole article for speedy deletion but instead it was redirected to Agua Bendita. The Nikki Nicole article was created to vandalize Wikipedia. Article was meant to trick people in to believing that a TV series Nikki Nicole was in the works. It has no relationship what so ever to the TV show Agua Bendita so it should not be redirected. francis17 02:13, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Delete It should be deleted. I was able to read the article yesterday, the title was new but the contents was copied and pasted from the TV series Agua Bendita It is not related to the said show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mageclansoftheeast (talkcontribs) 02:19, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy delete as G3 and tagged as such. Bridgeplayer (talk) 15:01, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - This mma fighter is no longer listed as fighting on the card that this redirect targets. The redirect could plausibly be expanded into an article, but I suspect this person does not meet WP:Notability. He has five fights in small, regional promotions. It was announced that he will be fighting at Bellator 23 on June 24, but one scheduled fight for a mid-level promotion does not make him notable (see WP:MMANOT). Osubuckeyeguy (talk) 20:24, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, but change redirect - The redirect is pretty much needed. We get consistent creations of non-notable BLPs, e.g. Christian Morecraft who is competing at UFC 117, which was created despite him having no notability according to WP:MMANOT. However, this redirect for Sparks isn't an article and I don't believe there's anything wrong with having the redirect handy for blocking of poor stub articles. Though he fails WP:MMANOT, he's not got a full article anyway, so isn't entirely subjected to those standards and also, though failing, he's a fairly well-known fighter to knowledgeable fans, due to his planned fight with Lashley. As such, I think we'll see article creation, which creates the pain of having to AFD it, so it's best to keep this redirect, but to divert it to Bellator 23 rather than its current status of Strikeforce: LA. Paralympiakos (talk) 20:45, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - in addition to the retarget suggested by Paralympiakos, he is also mentioned at K-1 ColliZion 2009 Final Elimination; why choose one rather than the other? Blocking red links because we are afraid of a sub-standard article being created is a bad idea. He appears to be nn at the moment and better that we come clean that we have nothing substantial to offer than redirect to a random show which is not particularly helpful. Bridgeplayer (talk) 21:08, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well really, we'd direct to Bellator because it's more notable than a small K-1 show in Romania. However, if it's to be deleted.... Paralympiakos (talk) 21:16, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I would assume that since WP is an encyclopedia and not a crystal ball, it would be most sensible to have redirects go to past rather than future events. This fighter does not meet notability guidelines based on past event participation, hence the vote for deletion. I understand that most visitors to this page are doing so because they are interested in a future event, but cards change all the time, sometimes right up until the day of the fight (see anticipated Lashley bout). Therefore, it seems most sensible to delete it for now and create this page as a full article if this fighter establishes notability at a future date.Osubuckeyeguy (talk) 05:55, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Though Bellator 23 is a future, it's 7 days away. Not exactly reaching far to keep it for now and redirect it to Bellator 23. The article has since been created again. This will keep happening unless the redirect is in place and possibly on semi-protection. Paralympiakos (talk) 01:45, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So, Bellator 23 happened and Ron Sparks was not on the card. How long should we keep redirecting this page to future fights that don't happen? Time to pull the plug, dude. Your intentions were good, but this guy just aint notable yet. Osubuckeyeguy (talk) 06:04, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
