Jimbo WhalesJimmy Wales[edit]

The result of the debate was Kept. -- JLaTondre 02:08, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uncommon misspelling and possible insult. Delete. h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 14:00, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Speedy delete per CSD R3 and prevent recreation. Shalom Hello 17:17, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's neither implausible nor recently created. --- RockMFR 20:58, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Good point RockMFR, I hadn't considered that. (Why would someone think his name is spelled "Whales"??) I change my opinion to neutral because I'm still not thrilled about keeping a patently ridiculous redirect even if it's used. Shalom Hello 04:01, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. I endorse the salting.-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 17:47, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - No one's going to think his last name's spelled "Whales" and if they do, I'm sure that they can figure out that it's spelled "Wales". Cool Bluetalk to me 16:44, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Perfectly valid misspelling redirect. Check "what links here" and Google hits. --- RockMFR 20:58, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per RockMFR. DrKiernan 07:03, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - a look at the contributions of the user who created this convinces me that this was created in good faith, not an attack. – Tivedshambo (talk) 07:26, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - the mispelling doesn't seem that unlikely and I cannot see how it can be considered offensive. Euryalus 07:01, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Random picture of the dayUser:GeorgeMoney/potd[edit]

The result of the debate was delete. WjBscribe 18:20, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect to user name-space left over from userfying last year (see Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Random picture of the day). I proposed this for speedy under CSD R2, but this was rejected on a technicality (it is a redirect from Wikipeida space, not main space).

I am also nominating Wikipedia:Random picture of the day/templateUser:GeorgeMoney/potd/template for the same reason.  – Tivedshambo (talk) 11:49, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete both per nom; XNRs are no good. Shalom Hello 17:19, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy delete - CSD R2 was amended per a discussion at WT:CSD#CSD R2, and can now be speedily deleted. Cool Bluetalk to me 16:52, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • No it can't; the current wording of R2 only covers redirects from article space to outside article space, and this is a redirect from Wikipedia: to User: space. --ais523 16:58, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
  • Comment I've removed the db tag from the template because it isn't directly covered by R2, and I'm too cowardly to take unilateral action by deleting it. However, as there are no incoming links to the template redirect, it does strike me as irrelevant. DrKiernan 17:05, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, as a cross-namespace redirect that has no obvious justification. In last year's MfD, though the debate ended as No Consensus, some participants thought that by voting to userfy they were getting the thing completely out of Wikipedia space. As long as a redirect remains, it's as though it's still there. Note that the 'random picture of the day' was not necessarily a picture from a WP article, it could be a picture directly uploaded by a user to be exhibited as the RPOTD. This activity is not part of building the encyclopedia, and it belongs in user space if it belongs anywhere at all. EdJohnston 02:18, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
