UT:JW, UT:ML, UT:NS, Ut:g → User talk pages[edit]

The nominated redirect was Deleted as {{db-rediruser}}. -- JLaTondre 01:32, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Created by User:Mac Lover and User:Flameviper, these redirects are a unilateral addition of another pseudo-namespace with no discussion. If we allow these to exist, there's no reason to think that we won't end up having thousands of these pages, at least one for each user who wants one, and then arguments over who should get what abbreviation and what user is more notable in the community. This is not a good idea, and a borderline R2 to boot. --Rory096 18:43, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nomination. We generally shouldn't have article namespace redirects to user/user talk space; we definitely shouldn't have Yet Another peudo-namespace that encourages it. Gavia immer (u|t|c) 19:01, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I tend to feel that wikipedia would be better off without them. Userpages are not normaly that much of a problem to find.Geni 22:59, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy delete since there was no discussion about the creation of a new pseudo-namespace. Thus they fall under CSD R2. Khatru2 06:36, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Speedy delete all of the above nominations by Cswrye as CSD R1 (nonexistent page). Gavia immer (u|t|c) 17:37, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment since new nominations are supposed to be at the top of the page, I have moved all of Cswrye's to the correct placement. When User:Gavia immer says "all of the above nominations", the nominations she is referring to are mostly below this one now. Picaroon9288 19:12, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NotableWikipedia:Notability[edit]

The nominated redirect was deleted/made into a Wiktionary redirect for the time being. —Centrxtalk • 02:53, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cross-namespace-redirect from articlespace. By random coincidence, this redirect is very similar to a concrete example of when we should delete redirects (see number 5.) Picaroon9288 00:09, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as a cross-namespace redirect. --Rbraunwa 01:49, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy Delete as basically and amusingly identical to the example. -Toptomcat 03:25, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • delete per above. Dar-Ape 03:32, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete cross-namespace. Khatru2 04:07, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as extremely wrong CNR. Gavia immer (u|t|c) 17:37, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy delete. Obvious joke. --- RockMFR 00:00, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: At 18:59, 30 October 2006, this discussion was prematurely closed. No speedy-deletion criterion was cited. This did not meet any of the deliberately narrow speedy-deletion criteria. The page has been restored in order to allow discussion to resume. Rossami (talk) 19:53, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Given the number of legitimate uses of this redirect being made on Talk and User pages and the number of times that this has been independently recreated, I find no evidence that this was an "obvious joke" - particularly since versions of it predated the comment in the instructions. On the contrary, the uses showing via "what links here" convinces me that this is a well-used redirect with very little possibility of confusion. Rossami (talk) 19:53, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • There are less than 50 uses. Of those, 3 are from articles. Article links should not send a reader to Wikipedia space. That is a prime example of the "plumbing" argument raised in the past. -- JLaTondre 20:52, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per all the above. At best, turn it into a dab page with all these. -- JLaTondre 20:52, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as CNR. -- SilverStar 18:45, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete and protect. How many times will we go through this notability mainspace->essay redirect? As an alternative, turn into dab page. CP/M comm |Wikipedia Neutrality Project| 09:55, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
