Rebate (retail)Rebate (marketing)[edit]

The nominated redirect was Kept, having history doesn't matter per se unless the content was merged, but this does seem like a valid redirect from disambiguation. --Cyde Weys 13:33, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pages were merged. Nothing links to the retail redirect (except a move discussion) and the redirect is no longer useful.  VodkaJazz / talk  17:21, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment If the page history is not useful, it should have been tagged with {{db-g6}} (CSD G6, housekeeping) rather than taken to RfD. If it is, it should be kept as a redirect; if you don't like the redirect maybe you can move the page to a more sensible redirect so the page history is at a useful title and delete the redirect that the move creates. The nominated redirect was I checked out the earlier version; the earlier version was garbage. Deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DragonflySixtyseven (talkcontribs) 17:11, 13 August 2006

Various ethnic groups redirects[edit]

The nominated redirect was kept. These pages have likely existed for a long time at the previous titles. Whilst I have no opinion on what the so-called "correct" naming convention should be, as long as all titles are reasonably consistant, so I will thank you for making the page moves, but... there is no valid reason for deleting most of these redirects, as they accommodate other naming conventions which have most likely been used in places that do not show up in "Whatlinkshere", ones which we do not have the technical ability to update. For example: edit summaries, links to Wikipedia from external web sites, and older revisions of currently existing pages. Please demonstrate that a redirect is actually harmful before nominating it for deletion. —freak(talk) 15:44, Aug. 13, 2006 (UTC)

(Amri (ethnicity), Bari (ethnic group), Bari (of the White Nile), Hammer (tribe), Homa (ethnic group), Indri (ethnicity), Kanga (ethnicity), Kara (ethnicity), Katla (ethnic group), Kuku (ethnic group), Logo (ethnicity), Lokoja (ethnic group), Mundu (ethnicity), Narim (ethnicity), Padang (ethnicity), Selim (ethnicity), Tama (ethnicity), Tenet (people), and Tira (ethnicity)

I have moved all these pages to "(name of the ethnicity) people" to standardize them, and now there are all these useless redirects. Please delete them. Béka 09:13, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment, I've orphaned Hammer (tribe) and Tira (ethnicity). All the others were already orphaned, I've checked out of courtesy. Béka, could you refer us to the relevant naming policy/guideline that instigated this change, if there is one? I'm hesitant to vote for deletion because I'm unfamiliar with the relevant policy. BigNate37(T) 19:57, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have asked the users Atamari and Sven-steffen arndt in the German Wikipedia about the naming of ethnic group articles and they told me that the standard is: "(name of the ethnicity) people". It is very confusing when some articles are with "(ethnic group)", others with "(ethnicity)" or "(tribe)". These redirects are useless. Béka 23:18, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Album redirects[edit]

The nominated redirect was speedy kept, harmless. The incoming links would just need to be changed back later anyway, if more topics emerge. Also, any old revisions linking to these titles would benefit from not containing red links. —freak(talk) 15:33, Aug. 13, 2006 (UTC)

I pre-emptively disambiguated a bunch of albums, thinking I was doing due dilligence. Figures I'd find WikiProject Albums after I'd done this... They apparently don't much like pre-emptive disambiguation if it isn't neccesary. I've moved the following, but would like to clean up the old versions. If, in future, disambiguation becomes necessary, they'd just be in the way.

SmarchList of neologisms on The Simpsons[edit]

The nominated redirect was Retargetted per Mathew5000. --Cyde Weys 13:35, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Smarch no longer on the list as it isn't a neologism — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheHYPO (talkcontribs) 23:54, 12 August 2006

  • Revert to 16:18, 8 May 2004 revision. Not being a neologism does not qualify it for deletion, rather it should not be a part of that list. Per your comment at Talk:List of neologisms on The Simpsons#Smarch, I would say that it arguably has enough notability and should be reverted even if it does not. It can be taken to AfD after reversion if it must. Since its entry is no longer on the list of neologisms, its history contains arguably useful information and RfD is not the place to decide whether the term is a valid encyclopedic entry.
