August 6

[edit]

Screenshot of copyrighted television show. I assume uploader has poor understanding of copyright law. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 03:17, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Underlying map is apparently based on likely copyright protected mapping data/images from MSN Mappoint website / NavTeq/TeleAtlas. Near replica maps can be created on maps.msn.com Infoman99 (talk) 09:17, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Map image is from Microsoft Streets and Trips, 2005. The boundary was added by me based upon information from the cited source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Timnmnangers (talkcontribs) 16:01, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you add modifications to a copyrighted map, like the one in MIcrosoft Streets and Trips, the copyright still belongs to the creator of the software. --Mosmof (talk) 16:07, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Tim, could you re-create the map using an open source mapping service, such as www.openstreetmap.org? Thanks Infoman99 (talk) 08:18, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The uploader has a bad uploading log; No metadata; he is definitely not the author. OsamaK 14:09, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image comes from Harvard Gazette [1]. I kind find no mention of them placing images into the public domain. - AWeenieMan (talk) 21:14, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Creative Commons license is clearly incorrect, and the site says "All rights reserved". The uploader cites clearance for "personal and informational uses" but the disclaimer disallows derivative images, and Wikipedia does not allow non-commercial licenses. Same issue as above Mosmof (talk) 22:15, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No clear permission/license, The uploader said: "I've gotten permission to use it on wikipedia, though not restricted to wikipedia ONLY.". Without selecting a license or explaining the permission. OsamaK 22:33, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've asked the owners permission to use the image on Wikipedia, and I've gotten the following message from Michel Blanc, General Manager of the organization that owns the image:

"Dear Sir,

The Federation of wine producers Federation syndicates authorizes Wikipedia.org to use appellation map of lieu-dits, on its website.

Please make sure that the origin of it (The Federation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine producers syndicates) will be indicated on the document.

Don’t hesitate to contact us for further support of information.

Best regards. Michel Blanc General Manager"

and this (see my translation below)

"Hej Nicolaj

Du har hermed min tilladelse, selv om jeg ikke forstår (som dig), at det skulle være nødvendigt. Hilsen fra Vacqueyras - 35 grader.

Søren"

"Hi Nicolaj

You hereby have my permission, though I don't understand (like you) that this is nesseccary. Greetings from Vacqueyras - 35 degrees.

Søren"--Nwinther (talk) 06:35, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You need to forward this to OTRS. --Kanonkas :  Talk  17:46, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"used with permission", Without explaining the permission or license. OsamaK 22:35, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also contradicts this legal statement on Browning's website. I have deleted the image and left a note with the uploader to try and clean up the status of the image. Pascal.Tesson (talk) 03:35, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A publicity shot apparently released under the GFDL by the uploader- someone with a history of ignoring our image policies. J Milburn (talk) 23:08, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User with a history of uploading copyright violations. This is a low resolution, has no meta-data and looks like a publicity shot/screenshot. I doubt significantly that the uploader owns the rights to this image. J Milburn (talk) 23:35, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Apparent publicity photo- web resolution and no meta-data. User has a history of uploading copyright violations. J Milburn (talk) 23:41, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
