Template:User Anti-Democracy

I guess this could be interpreted rather generously as being “republican not democratic” (both lower case) or any other non-democratic system (like meritocracy) but honestly this is probably just intended to promote authoritarianism which is altogether incompatible with Wikimedia’s values Dronebogus (talk) 03:52, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Comment — plenty of userboxes—particularly political ones—could be construed as running against the "values" of Wikimedia. But unlike the previous MfD I commented on this template does not really directly advocate for anything that is likely to be offensive. That said, the guidelines at WP:UBX are murky and do say this:
All userboxes are governed by the civility policy.
- Userboxes must not include incivility or personal attacks.
- Userboxes must not be inflammatory or substantially divisive.
Wikipedia is not an appropriate place for:
- Propaganda, advocacy, or recruitment of any kind (commercial, political, religious, or otherwise)
- Opinion pieces, particularly on current affairs or politics
- Self-promotion or advertising

How exactly this reconciles with templates at WP:Userboxes/Politics I do not know. I'm personally putting off voting here until further arguments are presented. I suppose the big question is "what is substantially divisive?" Duonaut^{(talk | contribs)} 04:12, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn’t sure either, I just wanted to be comprehensive since it seems substantially “edgy” like a lot of the other boxes I’ve just nominated— the sort of thing that exists to subtly troll other users. Dronebogus (talk) 04:15, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Weak keep While it might be divisive, political beliefs are not disallowed, there are tags you can give yourself to show you have one political goal or another. Many of those might be seen as dividing too, politics do work that way. Note: this user is also permanently banned so not sure if that's factored in. Weak keep. I most certainly do not agree with the political beliefs expressed here, but I agree with Lmharding above. In many cases, so called democracy is not democratic and is a in a non-humorous way, a joke. --Bduke (talk) 08:03, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
