Disputed NFCC #1; Stylization of an otherwise pd-textlogo File:WINTelevision.svg. Does not add anything to the article that the plaintext logo doesn't already provide. However, an editor claims that this argument is invalid because it is the "current official incarnation of the logo". It is literally the same logo but with gloss effects. Non-free book cover being used in a decorative manner in an article about the author. Non-free cover art is generally considered acceptable when used as the primary means of identification in a stand-alone article about the work in question, but (as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3) requires a much stronger justification for non-free use when use in other articles. This particular cover is not itself the subject of any sourced critical commentary within the article and is lacking the context required by WP:NFCC#8. I proposed the file for deletion, but it was deprodded with the edit sum "the book is the subject of three paragraphs of prose". The book is discussed, but the cover art is not and I feel it can be removed from the article without being detrimental to the reader's understanding of that article content in any way. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:39, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

- The concept of "fair use" is applied differently when it comes to non-free content on Wikipedia as explained in WP:ITSFAIRUSE. If the file was being used as the primary means of identification in a stand-alone article about the book itself, then this would be OK per WP:NFCC#1 and NFCC#8.
