- The result of the discussion was: delete. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 16:48, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: Delete per WP:SMALLCAT. I tried to expand the category, but I only found two members. The team itself does not currently have an article, and it plays in a second-tier league, so many of its players are not sufficiently notable for an article on Wikipedia. Pichpich (talk) 18:19, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- keep - has potential, German wiki has 15 entries. Pelmeen10 (talk) 19:04, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: Non-defining category. We should not categorize people based on being subjected to violence and harassment by internet randos. Zaathras (talk) 16:21, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- Delete Not a defining characteristic. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:23, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- Comment, the category has been emptied. E.g. Felicia Day and Brianna Wu were in here. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:27, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- Keep We categorize people based on being subjected to violence in particular events (see Category:Genocide victims and its subcategories such as Category:People who died in the Armenian genocide and Category:People who died in the Holocaust), even if these events were/are obviously much greater in scope and intensity of violence than Gamergate. CJ-Moki (talk) 16:39, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- Comparing victims of the Holocaust to those who were harassed by random trolls on the internet is quite beyond the pale. Not even apples and oranges, this is apples and rubber tyres. Also, note to the eventual closing admin, CJ-Moki is the category creator. Zaathras (talk) 16:45, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
We should not categorize people based on being subjected to violence and harassment by internet randos
I think we already do that. CJ-Moki (talk) 16:48, 19 March 2023 (UTC)- If you can't discern the difference between a generalized topic and an ephemeral online mob that came and went, then, that's on you. Zaathras (talk) 17:10, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- WP:BLP imposes a higher standard for currently living people. Lizthegrey (talk) 19:36, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

Also, note to the eventual closing admin, CJ-Moki is the category creator. Zaathras (talk) 16:45, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- Delete as per WP:AVOIDVICTIM. Lizthegrey (talk) 17:37, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- Comment The nominator has preemptively emptied this category. Liz Read! Talk! 01:19, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
- I felt it was a BLP concern, yes, to label someone a target of a harassment campaign in this manner. Zaathras (talk) 02:26, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
- Delete as non-defining. What's next, Targets of prank phone calls? —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 02:30, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
- WP:SMALLCAT is also relevant, since there are/were only a handful of truly notable Gamergate targets. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 23:00, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
- Delete as non-defining. I don't quite understand the appeal to WP:AVOIDVICTIM here, as it doesn't appear to touch on categorization, but I do think that this category does not contain any individuals for whom it is defining. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 05:10, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
- Either it isn't defining in which case, as you point out, there's already policy saying not to add the cat, or it is defining and they're not notable for other things, in which case AVOIDVICTIM applies. It's a two pronged argument you're right I should have spelled out better. Lizthegrey (talk) 15:07, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
- Comment Category:Gamergate (harassment campaign) already exists. So there seems to be no reason to create a new one since this is a generally ambiguous topic. Jennytacular (talk) 18:19, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: Consistency with the parent article, which has been moved to Russian invasion of Ukraine (2022–present). While this is eligible under WP:C2D, I anticipate this request may be controversial, so I am intentionally opening it as a discussion. Elli (talk | contribs) 09:43, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

Oppose In addition to the clumsiness of the new name, I have concerns with the misuse of parentheses, which I've raised on Talk:Russian invasion of Ukraine (2022–present). InfiniteNexus (talk) 17:50, 7 March 2023 (UTC)- Oppose per InfiniteNexus and also because "2022–present" might become confusing in the future. --Bduke (talk) 05:07, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
Merge to Category:Russo-Ukrainian War and corresponding subcategories. It's the same war. Better not to have so many WP:SMALLCAT. It's OK to group each major invasion, as does Category:World War II invasions. But not separate timelines, and war crimes, etc, etc, etc.

, per Talk:Russian invasion of Ukraine#Requested move 14 March 2023. The nominator also missed the following categories in their request:

- Nominator's rationale: WP:SMALLCAT — mountaineering charity event. Not really a Category:Sports competitions by sport, and climbing is currently a parent of mountaineering.
William Allen Simpson (talk) 15:24, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- Merge somewhere (but wouldn't Category:Climbing be the more accurate target?). Marcocapelle (talk) 18:03, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- Why would it?
William Allen Simpson (talk) 22:59, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- @William Allen Simpson: because climbing is more specific than mountaineering. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:29, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- No, mountaineering is a subcategory of climbing, so mountaineering is more specific than climbing. The root of the inheritance tree is the more general.
William Allen Simpson (talk) 09:53, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- @William Allen Simpson: that is odd. Mountaineering contains climbing, skiing and some other sports. Marcocapelle (talk) 11:51, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Marcocapelle: Climbing is a broad activity
from the world's tallest mountains (e.g. the eight thousanders) to small boulders.
Climbing a boulder isn't "mountaineering", it is called "bouldering". But climbing is just one of the many specific things a mountaineer can do. Likewise, Skiing is a broad activity. Skiing over a flat surface isn't "mountaineering", it is cross-country skiing. But alpine skiing is just one of the many specific things a mountaineer can do.
William Allen Simpson (talk) 09:57, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @William Allen Simpson: then it seems that Climbing should neither be a parent category nor a subcategory of Mountaineering and the article should be moved to both. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:18, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
- OK, Mountaineering now back on the same level as Climbing; there's a hatnote in each to the other. Moved the sole article into both Category:Climbing and health and Category:Mountaineering and health. Not a perfect fit, but it isn't really a competition per se.

- Comment by creator - You should proceed with extreme caution - I just checked here and realized that at least five existing articles can be included into this cat, and additional two are linked to other lang-wikies, which means could be eventually trans.ed or created in Eng. Thanks.--౪ Santa ౪99° 08:16, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- The question, however, is "do these villages have something meaningful in common besides their shared name?" Even if we can show that these were all Katuns in medieval times, does that have any lasting impact today that is precise and significant enough to build a category? Pichpich (talk) 19:02, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- These articles on villages are not the most fortunate choice for my argument because they could be few sentences long, but villages are all originating from historical katuns, no doubt about that, how is this described, if at all, within the articles that's the main question. We have even better candidates in quite a number of articles which could closer correspond to historicity, which should in reality be our defining characteristic, and these are articles on certain tribes from Montenegro, Old Herzegovina, Dalmatia, Herzegovina - these tribe-articles are all history articles on mostly Vlach katun-tribes. They would make real candidates; however, I had no time to go through and check how they describe this connection - I wouldn't be surprised if some could be immediately categorized as Category:Katuns based on prose and sources. If any one ever gets into this with more time and interest, we could be needing this category, if not right away then as soon as connection is established in prose. ౪ Santa ౪99° 03:30, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

- Delete, not a defining characteristic of the villages mentioned on the dab page. We do not categorize based on name alone. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:01, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- Delete — no need to categorize proto-villages by type of social organization. An well annotates list is sufficient.

- The result of the discussion was: delete. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 17:00, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: WP:SMALLCAT (2 subcats 0 items), and entirely redundant because its parent Category:Gaels already has both its subcats, Category:Celtic rulers is already being CfD'd, and Category:Irish kings is a wrong parent because it can't be a parent to Category:Gaelic monarchs in Scotland. Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 00:19, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- For sure this is a redundant category layer. The exact fate of this category depends on the outcome of the other discussion. If Category:Celtic rulers is deleted then this one here should go too. If Category:Celtic rulers is not deleted then this one here should be merged to Category:Celtic rulers. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:15, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
