The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Superman video games and Category:Batman video games as proposed. (non-admin closure) Extraordinary Writ (talk) 17:44, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Arcade games are a type of video game, therefore this category naming isn't standard. Simply "video games" will suffice. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 21:45, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Rename per the rationale. Reduces redundancy and upholds consistency. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 18:36, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge to Category:Former populated places in Iowa. This applies to both Category:Former cities in Iowa and Category:Former municipalities in Iowa. bibliomaniac15 04:51, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: A city is essentially a municipality. A quick Google search shows the legal definition to be similar for IowaThe Grid (talk) 17:43, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment, it is not clear from the article whether Queen City, Iowa which is in this category was ever a municipality. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:03, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It seems the same is true if it ever was a former city. The article mentions it was a farming town and the picture of the historical plaque on the article mentions it was a town in the early 1800s. The 1860s census indicates it was a township under the name "Queen City Township." I think the best option here is to remove this ghost town from the category. – The Grid (talk) 14:44, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge both to Category:Former populated places in Iowa. WP moved away from trying to decide what places were cities/towns/villages some years ago. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:40, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merging both per Peterkingiron, I will tag the other category too. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:55, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Merge per Peterkingiron and Wikipedia precedent. --Lenticel (talk) 11:37, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Architects from the Russian Empire. (non-admin closure) Extraordinary Writ (talk) 20:01, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale We have Category:Architects from Georgia (country) and Category:Architects from Northern Ireland, so the place+from form works. When we use "of" with architects, it normally refers to what they designed. Although this would be a different use of architect than how we use it in categorization, referring to people who create a country as the "architects" of it is sometimes done, so the current name is possibly confusing, and the alternative name is much more clear. We have several sister categories that use the "foo from the Russian Empire" when the "of" form would lead to confusion.John Pack Lambert (talk) 15:34, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. They must be spinning in their graves when they see what's happening to Mariupol. Laurel Lodged (talk) 11:43, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, this is less ambiguous. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:10, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Category:7th Odisha Legislative Assembly members[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename. Rename Category:Orissa MLAs 1961–1967 to Category:Orissa MLAs 1961–1967 Kbdank71 01:06, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: This naming convention is in line with the majority of the others in Category:Members of the Odisha Legislative Assembly by term. Other Indian states also follow this convention, e.g. Category:Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly by term -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:32, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support -- Such categories of which a MLA is likely to have several are better for being short. However was this province not called Orissa at the time? Odisha is anachronistic. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:42, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Changed the request per the recommendation. I'll create a new request for the first two. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:24, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: soft merge (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 17:22, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: I think this category is useless because it contains only one article. Vitaium (talk) 13:02, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment A small category is not necessarily useless. There are now 2 articles in the category. As far as I understand, only two Type J3 submarines were ever built so there's no potential for growth. Nevertheless, we have a subcategory Category:Type J1 submarines (also relatively small). So for consistency, I would recommend either keeping both as subcategories of Category:Junsen type submarines or upmerging both. Pichpich (talk) 20:54, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Category:People from Ninilchik, Alaska[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: result (non-admin closure) Marcocapelle (talk) 07:49, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Ninilchik is a very small town (less than 900 inhabitants) so I'm recommending an upmerge to Category:People from Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska on the basis of WP:SMALLCAT. Pichpich (talk) 21:06, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - without too much effort I found two other articles that belong in this category, and there may be more out there. Inter&anthro (talk) 15:45, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support — Arguments in favor of keeping this category seem to amount to "Why, there's something there, so better devote a category to it", which is already the cause of the labyrinth/clusterfuck known as Wikipedia's category tree. There are other notable people associated with Ninilchik for whom articles haven't been written yet. Still, even if those articles were written, I don't believe it would add up to a category that's either adequately populated or has much growth potential. Perhaps more importantly, Ninilchik is a census-designated place. There is no Category:People by census-designated place in Alaska. All of the entries in Category:People by city in Alaska are for actual incorporated communities. Since I don't pay much attention to the category trees of other states, I don't know whether or not there's a precedent for thisOkay, I looked and see there's Category:People by census-designated place by state, with all sorts of underpopulated categories downstream.
