Japanese titles

Hi, I've reverted your move on BUT/Aishō since the guidelines at WP:ALBUMCAPS refer to this document for non-English titles. For Japanese titles, it is recommended to preserve capitalization. +mt 19:31, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Concerning TVXQ

Why was the Japanese taken off and the same symbols from the Chinese used instead? I know they both mean the same but, come on! T.T

List of InuYasha characters‎ refs

Thanks for starting to add refs to the character list. One minor note, though. About Ayumi Hamasaki Discography

Yeah, as we all know Days and GREEN are one single, but it is much harder to record positions on Billboard Japan and Legal Downloads for individual tracks when they are listed like that. Also, we don't know if oricon will coun them as two seperate singles. if they do, it will become completely necessary for us to list them as two singles, but even know it is much more organized to list them as two 'tracks' and one 'single', if you catch my drift. i hope you understand what i'm trying to say & understand.

BoA discography

Why have you delete all the singles and album sales? And I think its useless to add countries like IT, FRA, GER... to the chartbox, because her Japanese products will never chart there. --Shairon (talk) 12:25, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

All of these were unsourced and I followed the example of these articles, which are featured discographies, such as No Doubt and 50 Cent. If you look at most non-Asian artists discographies you'll see why I changed the chart. Furthermore I didn't delete any singles or albums all of them are still there- minus the sales figures since there is a source for how much she has sold. But BoA is a Asian Singer so the discocraphy should be like Kumi Koda discography, Ayumi Hamasaki discography or Namie Amuro discography. The sales in these articles havent got a source too and the reason is here. Just because she's an Asian singer doesn't mean it has to look like that. I know the sales in those articles don't have a source. I'm following the examples of featured discographies, all of which has a source. Also the reason Italy, France and Germany are in the box is because BoA is releasing an all English album which will be released worldwide. (Moon) and (Sunrise) 12:55, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Utada Hikaru also released an English album and singles, but she is still a Japanese artist. The new chartbox hasnt as many informations as the older chartbox. At the moment its more away from a featured discographie than before. And how will you get the sources without Oricon? Why does it matter where they came from? The sale figures are still in the main articles which are linked, so if anyone wanted to see how much the songs or album has sold or whatever all they have to do is go to that article. The discography is meant to show how many singles the artist has released and what their rank is, that's the aim of the discography. The main article is to give user/vistors information on BoA. The article needs more work, you can't expect it to look like the others in a moment of days. It takes time. (Moon) and (Sunrise) 13:42, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi Moon-sunrise! I'd be glad to review the article. Please forgive me if I seem harsh or nitpicky at times, as Featured Article requirements are extremely high (see Ayumi Hamasaki's history, which went through three FACs before becoming an FA). But the article looks pretty good, and you seem to have a good grip on WP's policies, so I don't think there will be very many major issues. See you there! Oh wow. Congratulations on all the hard work and the (almost) GA! I'm glad to see so many East Asian articles stepping it up, before it was just blocks of incoherent text: Jay Chou, BoA, Namie Amuro, and of course Ayu Hamasaki and now her!

I think it counts as a reliable source, since according to this, "self-published work is acceptable to use in some circumstances, with limitations. For example, material may sometimes be cited which is self-published by an established expert on the topic of the article, whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable third-party publications", and the author, Steve McClure, is a writer for the Japan Times. Awards vs. #1s.

What I consider to be notable (for inclusion in an award section) is any "legit" award, like a sales award (including Cyworld's song of the month) or a daesang or bonsang or something. The thing with tv chart #1s is that it's basically inconsistent and based on data like viewer votes, so it's not necessary a notable award for an artist. I do believe, though, that's it's worth mentioning in a song article. Like, "Gee" notes that it went on #1 on Music Bank already. But it doesn't necessarily belong on the artist page (the Girls' Generation page does mention that the song went #1 on various digital charts). I hope that distinction makes sense. Naming.

See Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean). The main problem with that, though, is that it assumes that there is no official English version. In any case where there is a dominant, common, or "official" Romanized version, that should be used. For example, Eugene from S.E.S. should technically be "Yoo-jin" but she goes by "Eugene" so that's what her Wikipedia page is under (Eugene (entertainer)). Another problem is that there could be conflicting or alternate "official" versions, which is what happened for the Wonder Girls.

So, for Shinee, if Taemin is always Taemin and not Temin or Tae Min or Tae-min, then use "Taemin". But if it's inconsistent...well, that's when it goes to a judgment call. You might want to discuss it on the talk page. SKS2K6 (talk) 21:09, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
