I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Carly Simon, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Reliable sources[edit]

Please be sure to use reliable sources as you edit. The celebrity birthday reference you used at Carly Simon from the Associated Press, is an obvious WP:MIRROR of our WP:DOY pages.

Sources like that may look reliable because they were published by the Associated Press, but you have to look a little deeper. Sometimes journalists will look for a quick "filler" article to just get something out. It could be that they need to publish so many pieces per period of time or other reasons.

But in evaluating sources, you have to ask, "How likely is it that this information is true and where did it come from?" and maybe "How much research went in to this info?" In this case, it is highly likely that the AP journalist just went to the Wikipedia pages June 24, June 25, June 26, etc. and used that as a basis of the article. If we then use the article as a source, it is called Circular reporting or "citogenesis" and is one of the fundamental weaknesses of Wikipedia. We have to be super-vigilant about stuff like that. That's impossible, because none of those Wikipedia pages said 1943 when the Associated Press piece went to publication. In this case, there's no valid reason to discredit the AP. Most likely, they ascertained the true age of Carly Simon just like they did when Doris Day's age was disputed [1]. Ysovain (talk) 23:03, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding unreferenced or poorly referenced biographical content, especially if controversial, to articles or any other Wikipedia page. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
