Blnguyen, what exactly is the problem with this article that requires that much edit-warring? You obviously know better than this. Have you considered at all discussing the issue on the article's talk page or with the ediort?! Also, why did the user not get a warning explaining the reversion policy before it escalated like this? — Zerida 07:34, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,

I've tried to carry out the recommendations you asked for. I could not find the name of the college, but I did find the name of the newspaper from where the comic originated. I hope that is good enough.

Vietnamese place names...[edit]

Question: why are the articles for Vietnamese places in unaccented forms, not in their Vietnamese forms? e.g., Chau Thanh not Châu Thành. Most other places with extended Latin-based alphabets have articles titled in their accented forms. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 18:01, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure. There isn't any real convention at WP:VIET. But no diacritics seems to be almost universal among place names, but for people, diacrtics is more common, although still a minority. Blnguyen (photo straw poll) 03:16, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Needdiacritic[edit]

{{Vietdiacritic}} - Just made this template. Whack it on a talk page of the article, and it will put the article in a category of articles needing diacrtics so it can be easily chased down. Blnguyen (photo straw poll) 07:51, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why not copy the code from Template:Needhanzi? Badagnani (talk) 07:52, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I find it intrusive to use templates on the main article. If there is a massive problem, like no sources, no refs, POV, spam farm, then its good to put a sign on the main article, but if it is just a five second job to fix, then its easier to simply put a maintenance tag on teh talk page, like for photo requests. Otherwise the main page looks like it has some dreadful problem when it is easily fixed. Íll check this cat on a regular basis. Blnguyen (photo straw poll) 07:54, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd suggest using an image of an " ễ " in place of the Chinese characters. Could that be done? Badagnani (talk) 07:53, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've made the image. Badagnani (talk) 08:02, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA question[edit]

Hello, I saw that you are quite active in reviewing and listing Good Article candidates, so I hope you don't mind me asking your opinion on a related issue. I just recently passed the article Verna Fields for GA, but I'm not sure where it would belong on the list. Because she was a film and sound editor, she doesn't fit in the section for "Actors, models, performers and celebrities". Should there be a separate section for filmmakers and technicians? What would you suggest be done? Thanks for any insight! María (habla conmigo) 14:47, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I lloked at WP:GA and I would have put her in the general "cinema" section as it seems to fit well enough. However in the current section "Actors, models, performers and celebrities" I also saw Matt Groening so perhaps it should include filme producers/director/engineers simply by redefining the topic title. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Harbhajan hattrick.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Harbhajan hattrick.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it may be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:32, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello bot, it was someone else who added the fair use image that I uploaded to a second article and didn't add in the fair use rationale. Nevermind, I don't mind cleaning up, unlike some people, and I deleted it anyway since I had some home-made photos to replace them with. Che Guevera[edit]

Since you have edited Che Guevara in the past, I am wondering if you have any suggestions about how to handle the current situation. In the last month or so, the article has ballooned from approximately 125,000 kbs to 209,000 kbs. One person appears to have stepped in and taken over the article. Now an edit war of some sort has started. Is its FA status going to be endangered? I have thought about nominating it for FAR just to stop the madness. Would that be a bad idea? Regards, Mattisse 16:49, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I guess this is Redthoreau (talk · contribs). If the edit-war is only a few days old, then I wouldn't think that it was necessary to have an FAR, but if it became a subjet of a long term dispute, which had persistent edits wars then yes. If Redthoreau is going overboard you can ask him to use fork articles to put all his new and unpolished additions in a separate article, or simply revert him I guess - he is a SPA. Blnguyen (photo straw poll) 03:16, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think he is a sockpuppet too. The article has been in FAR since February 23. Redthoreau has been working exclusively on the article since December or so, and even reverted SandyGeorgia. It is a single purpose account. SandyGeorgia suggested that we revert to the original FA version of 2006 as that is infinitely better than what exists now. Redthoreau will not desist, even now although he has slowed down for the time being. If we cannot revert soon to the old version and get to work while the article is in FAR, then all is lost. There is a consensus on the FAR to revert - me, Polaris999, SandyGeorgia, and another editor, User:Caribbean H.Q.. Only Redthoreau is against it and sees nothing wrong with the article. Would it be O.K. if we reverted now so we could work on it under the protection of FAR? Polaris999 and I are of one mind. We just want to repair the article and it's faults as much as we can. No other agenda. But we are both worn and discouraged over POV wars. There is little interest from other editors in the FAR. Mattisse 02:28, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
