Chinese foreign stereotyping[edit]

I missed the source you provided, but going back and checking, it's not a suitable source to put contentious claims into an encyclopedia article about China. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary sources. A single source of an non-scholarly work designed to help business travelers adjust to China does not elevate this sort of material to encyclopedia standard. Even significant study by academic sources would be unlikely to make it appropriate for a general article about the People's Republic of China - such material being more appropriate for an article on stereotyping in general. --Siobhan Hansa 00:43, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed you've been editing a while and no one's welcomed you. I hope my response above doesn't put you off editing. We always need good editors. Keep trying and you'll find out what works (it looks like you've already made an impact on some articles). The main point is that we're trying to build a high quality encyclopedia, so any edits should be made with that in mind. Check out some of our policies and guidelines such as the Five Pillars, the manual of style (which is ridiculously large when you take in all the sub-articles, but has some informative guides on various aspects of editing Wikipedia) and, of course, the welcome page. If you have any questions, feel free to drop a note on my talk page, or put {{Help me}} on your talk page with an outline of your question and an experienced editor will be along to try and help. Have fun editing! --Siobhan Hansa 00:58, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
