Wynonna[edit]

I noticed you've made several edits to the Wynonna Judd article. However, 1.) the lead section of an article is supposed to summarize the entire article, and not just be two sentences long, and 2.) the Zvents.com and other sources do not meet the reliable sourcees guideline. Judging from your user name, you are apparently associated with Wynonna in some way. While none of your edits seem to be promotional in nature, I should let you know of conflict of interest, which is a fine line to walk. • Okay, first of all, like I said, the intro needs to be more than two sentences long. The intro is supposed to summarize all the major points of the article. Just saying her name and occupation isn't enough. Also, wouldn't you count her career in The Judds in the infobox? I would. Furthermore, we have image use policies that say that only a free image should be used for a living person, not the promotional image you want to use, even if you did get permission. The Zvents source, as I said, doesn't meet the reliable sources policy and shouldn't even be in the article. The only information I removed was controversial and unsourced (regarding the sexual assault). I was about to demolish the article and start over, as in its present state it's a mess. Please don't revert my edits without a specific reason. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Many ottersOne hammerHELP) 23:53, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'd be more than happy to work with you to help improve the article. I'm just informing you of the article policies, since things like two-sentence lead sections make articles worse, not better. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Many ottersOne hammerHELP) 00:01, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm working on the article right now. Basically, it needs to have several sections in a chronological order: first, a section describing her early life. The next section should give a brief summary of The Judds. Then, there should be a section for her solo career, with a separate subsection for each studio album. There should also be subsections covering her charity work and TV work, and ideally, a section on her musical styles as well. Take a look at any music article that is a good article or featured article. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Many ottersOne hammerHELP) 00:14, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Okay, I added a bunch of information to the article. The basic structure is down now, except there isn't yet a section on her musical stylings, and no mention of any major awards (Academy of Country Music, Country Music Association, Grammy, etc.) The article still needs way more sources as well. If you want to help me dig up sources, I would recommend CMT, Great American Country, Country Standard Time. I have several back issues of Country Weekly, so I'll see if there's anything useful in them, too. Pretty much the only sections that I think are fine as-is are the intro and the section that summarizes The Judds. • Regarding the punctuation/headers, I wasn't exactly proofreading when I typed. You can fix those. As for the image, you can ask someone about OTRS, which might allow for the image to be used. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Many ottersOne hammerHELP) 04:31, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Wynonnaheadshot.png[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Wynonnaheadshot.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Many ottersOne hammerHELP) 22:20, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Don't worry about this, really. I reported your username because I thought it was short for "Wynonna staff" (which would mean promotional username, which is bad), but since you claim you're just a fan and not associated with Wynonna proper, carry on.
