Deletion request[edit]

Hi, I'm seeking assistance to have a page deleted http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_School_of_Applied_Arts for the following reasons--

  • it's an orphan
  • the two external links lead to entities also owned by Andre' Martinez, who is the founder of the "SAA"
  • the faculty listing is not up to date, incorrect, and uses hype such as "highly regarded"
  • contains typos

I'm a trade professional in this industry, this page is blatant commercial promotion.

If you're not able to assist, I would appreciate guidance on seeking further assistance in deletion, as I'm incapable of properly understanding the platform of Wikipedia.

Please feel free to email me, thank you.

I'll probably explain the stuff in more detail later on, but for now, I've added some more tags to the article. Suffice to say, the issues you listed aren't reasons for deletion in themselves, but the issues obviously should be fixed. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 20:06, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Fuller explanation: Basically, I'm probably the worst person to ask for deletion of any article, because I believe in the Wikipedia deletion processes are outdated and common sense suggests that if there are any methods to fix the articles, they should be employed first before there is any call for deletion. I believe that if we're talking about some actually existing organisation, and there probably are third-party sources that cover it, then it probably should be mentioned in Wikipedia in one form or another - not necessarily an article, but that depends on how much people can and will write about it. The article isn't blatantly obvious spam, so I can't just go out and delete it; such deletions would only be applicable if it would require a total rewrite of the article, and would be only justifiable for fairly recently created articles (most obvious example would be when someone just copy-pastes marketing material to the article, which would not only likely to be non-encyclopedic in tone, but would also be a copyright violation). So, instead of suggesting the article for deletion, I've tagged the article with the pertinent issues, and I hope people take steps to fix the article. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 21:10, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's cool, I fully understand, your way serves justice. Thanks for your time, much appreciated!--Brian — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.196.225.167 (talk) 14:34, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to events: bot, template, and Gadget makers wanted[edit]

I thought you might want to know about some upcoming events where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, extending functionality with JavaScript, the future of ResourceLoader and Gadgets, the new Lua templating system, how to best use the web API for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing.

Check out the Chennai event in March, the Berlin hackathon in June, the developers' days preceding Wikimania in July in Washington, DC, or any other of our events.

Best wishes! - Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation's Volunteer Development Coordinator. Please reply on my talk page, here or at mediawiki.org. Sumanah (talk) 17:14, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MSU Interview[edit]

Dear Wwwwolf,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at [email protected] (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at [email protected]. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar — Preceding unsigned comment added by 35.9.115.210 (talk) 21:52, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Jori Olkkonen has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails to satisfy WP:BIO.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Terence7 (talk) 00:51, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Jori Olkkonen for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Jori Olkkonen is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jori Olkkonen until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Terence7 (talk) 15:20, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Internet Television page History section[edit]

Hello My Name is Raven.

I would like to request some help with this page >> Internet Television/History

I have tried to edit the History content that was there a couple days ago... and failed. and the history section has now been deleted....... from that page.

the info that was there before, was incorrect. it said that the first Internet TV station, was created in 2005, by a guy from greece.. that Info is incorrect. I started and ran Daytona Beach's first Internet TV station in the year 2000 and have all the links to newspaper stories, and websites, and who-is data, to proove that fact

HOW can I get this History Heading re-instated, and the history corrected, with the correct info ? can you please help? wiki is so confusing. I did try for almost a whole day and nite...without any correct results.

you can contact me here at [email protected]

thankyou for your time

TheRaven

Replied on your talk page. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 20:28, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

hi wolf this is the guy from the Internet Television page etc..

With all due respect....

I read your reply and and the other ones.. I just can barley reply to all these wiki pages etc...not even sure if Im doing it correctly etc..wiki kinda blows....grin its way too complicated.

I have a word pad doc on my HD that I wrote explaining my Internet TV rise on the net....with each step, documented and complete with a fast link to the actual source material etc...Newspaper articles. story the Annenberg school of communications at USC,, in calif, did on me in 2003... a chapter in a book dedicated to me etc and my stations........etc.

each step of mine documented with a link to the Source NOT just me saying it,,,, there are also links to my Old websites during that period.....from the actual Internet website archive??? did anyone even READ and check these links? just HOW Official does this source materiel have to be? they are some VERY credible sources...etc....go look.

its not just me saying all this....its the newspapers of the towns...and the annenberg communications school at USC ....and the fact that the Who-is data for DaytonaBeach-Live.com pre dates anyone else claiming to have done Internet TV etc... that I know of............ isnt that KIND-OF Official ? etc... I actually made history by starting that TV station........

I think the info should be entered into the wiki and LOCKED until someone else can prove an earlier date, and BUMP my slot, just Like I do with the guy from greece, in 2005....I was here before him etc...and I can Prove it.

wiki just will NOT check....my sources are "VERY" credible.......and in english...grin

its a simple VERIFIABLE fact,,,,,,,(by newspapers and the annenberg etc) go check the LINKS I put in.....most of them are my old websites but two of them are My claims to fame... along with the who-is data link for DaytonaBeach-Live.com

chapter # 8, in this book "Darknet" is also all about ME. http://www.amazon.com/Darknet-Hollywoods-Against-Digital-Generation/dp/0471683345/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338078728&sr=8-1

is THAT worth anything? grin

we need someone that can assemble all this info into a few paragraphs, with all the correct links, to prove everything, (which I have provided etc)

and then enter it into the HISTORY section of that page.........

if the wiki does not put the history info in, then the wiki is incomplete. and worthless as a history check tool.and will be bypassed by internet users, that will use a more credible and accurate source themselves,,,, instead of the wiki etc...

(if the wiki is not correct, or incomplete etc)

the who-is data says I started in 2000 annenberg says I was rockin HARD in Daytona in 2003 daytona beach's own newspaper story from 2002 and chapter # 8 in the book Darknet are both, all about me and DaytonaBeach-Live

I included the actual links to the articles themselves.....( I forgot the Darknet reference etc) HOW much more "OFFICIAL" and credible,,, does the freakin wiki require etc? the links to the source material is all there.......and as credible as it gets.

I AM TheRaven...and I was doin (IT) down in Daytona Beach, in 2000 to 2008, and CONTINUE to operate as well........its just a simple fact... does wiki deny this? or NOT want to record and report the correct history of Internet TV?

what say ye to this?

Annabelle Wright[edit]

Sir/Ma'am

Could you please send me a copy of the deleted article on the actress Annabelle Wright (also written as Annabel Wright) of Sniper Reloaded fame. I would prefer if you could send it to me in a .pdf format thought any other copy would also work out. Also could you please send it as soon as possible.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anoopjohnm (talkcontribs) 12:38, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid the deleted versions don't offer much help. The deleted page with "Annabelle Wright" from October 2010 doesn't appear to be a biography, but rather a message of adoration to the named individual, unlikely the actress in question. "Annabel Wright" appears to be a very, very short biograpy that basically tells the person was born in 2004 and who their parents are, so while the details are scant I don't think this is the actress in question. Sorry I couldn't help you; you may be better off rewriting the article from scratch =) --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 19:10, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article about Radha Thomas[edit]

I am currently working on the Wiki page for Ms Radha Thomas. She is an Indian jazz singer and songwriter. In fact, she is known as a diva in the Indian jazz scene. She previously was with the band Human Bondage and has sung and performed globally. The article is still under development. I haven't completed it or submitted it for review yet. You can have a look at it at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Radha_Thomas. I will be requesting your help and advice (as usual) in making it conform to all Wiki standards. If you do a Google Search for Radha (https://www.google.co.in/#hl=en&output=search&sclient=psy-ab&q=Radha+Thomas&oq=Radha+Thomas&gs_l=hp.3..0l2j0i30l2.1190.3159.0.3385.12.12.0.0.0.0.282.1949.0j11j1.12.0...0.0...1c.dYmnNUlMsQM&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=f6ee012440c72a74&biw=1024&bih=509) you will find dozens of articles and links to her work. As of now, the article is still under development and I will come bug you for help soon! Varunr (talk) 06:38, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Based on a very very very cursory look, it doesn't look too bad, especially if you can put some sources into the article (putting in a nicely formatted list of reliable third-party sources is usually the biggest sticking point in biographies, because that'll establish the notability in an unquestionable manner). I'll take a better look later on - please do comment if the article is shaping up. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 12:13, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much, sire. I will let you know soon as I would need your expertise on the article. Thanks again.Varunr (talk) 10:47, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Here you go, sire. I think I have completed the article and am contemplating it to move it to the AFC space. Before that, I'd really appreciate if you could have a look and give me some inputs, suggestions and advice and hopefully a green signal :-). Buttdog[edit]

Why was the Buttdog article deleted? It's not a hoax. Jeremy Duggins actually created it, and we're beginning prototype testing this week. Do I need to provide pictures or prove its existence in some way? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jesupuga (talkcontribs) 17:24, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It'd require reliable third-party sources to establish its notability, in that case - even if it were real, few products manage to get written about in reliable sources before they actually exist. These sources are especially important if the article has any sort of, shall we say, extraordinary content - as the old saying goes, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Even if it wasn't a hoax, the article was still marketing-talk, which would have required complete rewrite to become a neutral, encyclopedic article. Hope this helps. --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 18:11, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article GtkRadiant has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for reliable, secondary sources reveals an insufficient amount of significant coverage. This video game level editor fails Wikipedia's general notability guideline.
