USgamer

Please avoid redirect USgamer articles to their newer location at VG247. This could be misleading in historical contexts. Instead, the originals links should be archived in place using WP:IABOT or any other tool. IceWelder [✉] 15:57, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

Also, the rest of the citation still mentions "USGamer". If you are up to update it, shouldn't the rest of the citation be changed too? Maybe that is actually better if done by a bot for that reason too, if it has to be done. —Teles «Talk to me˱_{M @ C S}˲» 16:01, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

USgamer articles should not be incorrectly attributed to VG247 when we already know the true origin. VG247 is effectively a content mirror, not a successor or anything alike. Mass-archiving should be the better option here. IceWelder [✉] 16:07, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

Exactly my point. Maybe we should have a bot/script run over articles that have archived USgamer articles and set the status to dead. IABot seems to be down right now, but all other pages should be archived, maybe with an IABot job once it is back. IceWelder [✉] 17:08, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

Ah, I thought referencing https://www.polygon.com/2018/2/26/17053662/reedpop-gamer-network-owner would be enough. Would this be better:

ReedPop, part of RX, organises popular culture events including New York Comic Con, Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo and PAX.. In February 2018, ReedPop acquired Gamer Network, a British Mass Media company that owns a number of video game journalism sites including Eurogamer, Rock Paper Shotgun and VG247. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process.
