Welcome![edit]

Hello, Winnan Tirunallur, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page Religion in ancient Tamil country has not conformed to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and has been or will be removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or in other media. Always remember to provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles. Additionally, all new biographies of living people must contain at least one reliable source.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to the new contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Information icon Hello, I'm Utcursch. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Pandyan dynasty, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. utcursch | talk 19:27, 2 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Gurjara-Pratihara, but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Kautilya3 (talk) 23:37, 2 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for March 3[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Rani Padmini, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sinhala. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into Pondicherry diaspora. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:52, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries[edit]

Hello. Remember to fill in the edit summaries while making edits, especially when making big changes. Among other things, it helps other editors watching the page know what you meant to do instead of them going through the entire diff. This can prevent misunderstanding. Nomination of Singapore Tamils for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Singapore Tamils is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Singapore Tamils until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Regards, Krishna Chaitanya Velaga (talk • mail) 12:15, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

December 2016[edit]

The Wikipedia community has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions on any editor who is active on any page about social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties, related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in further inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or a topic ban. The discussion leading to the imposition of these sanctions can be read here.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Wikipedia:General sanctions/South Asian social groups.

Removing templates[edit]

Please stop continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Singapore Tamils, without resolving the problem that the template refers to. This may be considered disruptive editing. Further edits of this type may result in your account being blocked from editing. Lemongirl942 (talk) 04:43, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have addressed the issue so according to Wikipedia policy any user can remove the template. Discussion is all about keep or merge the article nothing to do with template. Hope you got it clear now. Winnan Tirunallur (talk) 05:01, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure whether you understand, but please do have a look at the article right now. It's a bunch of messed up formatting. In addition, you did not address the issues. You have now changed the scope of the article 3 times. At this point this is getting disruptive. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 05:13, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you are messing up the article further and further, clear sign of disruptive behaviour. I will now keep this issue to any neutral administrator, I am just tired of your constant disruptive targeting behaviour. Let, any of neutral admin to decide to keep this article or further improve or not or just delete it as you wish. Thanks. I gave up. Winnan Tirunallur (talk) 05:26, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your WP:BATTLEGROUND behaviour is not helping. Please explain this edit. There are issues with the sources and I tagged it accordingly. Why would you remove it? --Lemongirl942 (talk) 05:29, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Using multiple accounts/editing logged out[edit]

Information icon Hello, Winnan Tirunallur, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia, such as 208.96.116.15 (talk · contribs). Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who use multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. If you are editing logged out, please disclose it as well. Lemongirl942 (talk) 04:54, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have multiple accounts, sometimes I forget log in. I will disclose that in my page.Winnan Tirunallur (talk) 04:59, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

December 2016[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Tamil diaspora, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. obi2canibetalk contr 14:06, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Pallar. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Sitush (talk) 14:37, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Actually, I seem to be reverting all of your recent edits because they are simply unacceptable - unsourced, opinionated etc. This is despite the recent notification you received regarding the sanctions regime that is applicable to the topic area. I think you need to stop editing articles about Indian communities etc until you have a better grasp of how Wikipedia is supposed to work. - Sitush (talk) 15:22, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Singapore Tamils. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.
Please stop edit warring and adding content sourced to unreliable sources. If you continue to do so, you might be blocked. Lemongirl942 (talk) 15:31, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You are adding a bunch of content sourced to unreliable sources. And then you are edit warring when I reverted it. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 15:34, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And please stop treating Wikipedia as a WP:BATTLEGROUND. This kind of behaviour is generally termed as WP:NOTHERE and will get you blocked. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 15:39, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

December 2016[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Veerakodi Vellalar.

And at other Vellalar-related articles. You really do not understand WP:INDICSCRIPT, WP:V, WP:RS, WP:NPOV etc and that is why I suggested earlier today that you steer clear of caste articles until you do understand. Sitush (talk) 16:37, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

For repeated disruptive editing, I have decided, in my capacity as an uninvolved administrator under the terms of this community discussion, to impose the following sanction on you:

indefinitely topic banned from editing anything about social groups or castes of South Asia. This applies all over the English Wikipedia, including articles, talk pages, user pages, user talk pages among other name spaces.

This sanction has been logged at Wikipedia:General sanctions/South Asian social groups. If the sanction includes a ban, please read the banning policy to ensure you understand what this means. If you do not comply with this sanction, you may be blocked for an extended period, by way of enforcement of this sanction—and you may also be made subject to further sanctions.

You may appeal this sanction to the community at the administrators' noticeboard. You may also appeal directly to me on my talk page, before or instead of appealing to the noticeboard. Even if you appeal this sanction, you remain bound by it until you are notified by an uninvolved administrator that the appeal has been successful. You are also free to contact me on my talk page if anything of the above is unclear to you. —SpacemanSpiff 01:25, 25 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have unblocked you as I misread the time stamp on the article. However, please note that the topic ban applies to user talk pages too, and warnings you leave on those pages. You've violated that part but given that this was a first violation outside of article space, I've unblocked you. Any further violations across any name space will result in a block. —SpacemanSpiff 03:57, 25 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Maps[edit]

Hi, I see that you have uploaded a number of maps on Commons, such as File:Kuntala Region.png, File:Chen Tamil Nilam of Ancient Tamilakam.png, File:Marwari Language Area.png. The boundaries depicted in these maps seem to be quite inaccurate. What is your source for these boundaries? Please add some reliable sources to the image description pages. utcursch | talk 19:49, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You've added some refs (here and on Wikimedia Commons), but those references do not support the boundaries depicted in your map. For example, in this edit, you cited this Gazetteer as the source for File:Kuntala Region.png, but that article contains no such depiction (graphical or textual) of Kuntala's boundaries. Please find some sources that actually support the claims made in your maps. utcursch | talk 19:16, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
